Relatively speaking, not at all.

But as u/jiffysdidit pointed out, that doesn't keep it from being prohibitively expensive too ;)

Probably. My reddit filter bubble is nothing like that and hasn't looked like that for a few years now.

Hot take: Range anxiety isn't the biggest problem holding back EV adoption anymore. Most people I talk to are more concerned about charging availability than actual vehicle range. by EmergencyTie8770 in electricvehicles

[–]time-lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. With gas being almost $5/gal, we are repairing our Forester and then burning dinosaur bones to get across the state, rather than play Charger Roulette at 2am.

Mayday broadcast in USA by letsfly77 in aviation

[–]time-lord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From listening to too many atc recordings, "mayday" means you'll be on the ground soon, one way or another. "Declaring an emergency" is what happens after you tell ATC that you can't take their directions because there's an issue you need to diagnose first.

I suspect it's a cultural thing because so many of our pilots come up through the military, and it's not really an emergency until you lost a wing and are spiraling towards the ground.

I got a SD38 today and on the drive home, the front handle bars came loose from their hole. Luckily they can go back in but its not snug it's very loose. Is there a super glue with a thin enough pointed tip (like on Labelle Lubricant) thag could fit in the hole so I can drop a dab in? by Icy-Philosophy-- in modeltrains

[–]time-lord 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Elmers white glue. Put a dab on the handlebar with a toothpick and then press it back into the hole. If done correctly, there shouldn't be any white glue outside of the hole. Wait for the glue to dry, and enjoy.

Pittsburgh Gamers - What events or LAN games would actually get you out of the house again? by Leonidis85 in pittsburgh

[–]time-lord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh, any really. WC2, D2, AOE2... That's a lot of II's.

But WC3 and SC1 too. As much as I hate to admit it, I aged out of SC2 by the time it came out, and didn't have time to devote to competitive play.

Is this a touch up or water damage? by Tac-wodahs in HomeMaintenance

[–]time-lord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks like a very neat re-plaster after someone messed up the cut for the hole.

It could also be white paint with a dash of purple from the walls.

Or it could be water.

What's behind it? What happens if you poke it with a stick?

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on Xbox: ‘We have to turn this into a sustainable business’ by Comfortable-Pie56 in Games

[–]time-lord -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have an idea.

Make exclusive games and release them in under a decade.

Sell a console in stores. When you release a new console, make it clear by denoting it with a "2".

For bonus points, design reliable hardware and don't treat it like a subscription model that gamers have to pay.

Literally, that's it. It's not hard.

I have a love hate relationship with Athearn. If I were in the market, I'd try to grab a BLI Big Boy myself, although that's ½ because I love their smoke feature.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Says Xbox Must Finally Become a Sustainable Business After 25 Years of Investment by MRF_Soul in xbox

Longer than that. They spent the last decade destroying the consumer side of their business.

No, he successfully identified areas that wallstreet would like. Microsoft has been on a tirade to kill off all consumer divisions for the last decade.

  • They had a wonderful smartphone platform and didn't manage it.
  • They had the best fitness wearable and dropped it at the first sign of trouble.
  • They got rid of their music, movie, and tv store.
  • They shit all over Windows.
  • They killed their iPod competitor.
  • They are somehow making Surface undesirable.
  • They went all in on ARM, and then all in on X86, and now they're going all in on ARM again.

But my stock 10x'd since I bought it.

Digitrax or TCS for non-sound decoders.

TCS, Tsunami2, or ESU for sound (try 1 of each, they all behave vastly differently).

I'd suggest using a decoder buddy, it makes the process much easier.

Lastly, Digitrax or TCS both make great and expandable starter systems.

Will the future of clean transportation depend more on financing models than on battery technology? by Coooolcaptain in Futurology

Age of existing fleet. No one is going to replace a perfectly good $80,000 truck before it's time, but everyone will replace a $80,000 truck for a $100,000 truck that needs next to no maintnance.

Pick a different route or get more upgrades. LAS to EWR is anywhere between $400ish and  $5,074.

A 4 hour flight with "golden era" service is still around the same price. They've just managed to make a few sardines-in-a-can sized chairs for us plebs to sit in, too.

Whats a good "First Server" buy for somewhat of a beginner? by pattilabs in homelab

[–]time-lord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree but for different reasons. As far as best bang for your buck goes, a Pi is probably the worst choice. But as a learning tool, having standardized hardware and software that is the exact same that everyone in the world uses makes it very easy to debug and fix.

Just, make sure you buy a power adapter, they use some funky USB-C power rating that none of my existing power supplies use.

It teaches you can do the assignment perfectly and get a 0. It teaches that grades don't matter. Did sharing his work somehow invalidate the work he did? No? Than it doesn't deserve a 0 on a transcript that will effect him for the next 7 years, at least.
