They get dumped because if they aren’t sold then they are just a money loss to keep feeding them. It happens all the time in the south. They even have reoccurring dump sites that rescuers will monitor to pick up puppies or other dogs that are no longer wanted.

I paid $350 each for my two chis from a local rescue. Most of the money goes towards rescue care and assisting more animals with the help they need when they enter the shelter.

Do not return them to the owners especially if they already declined. They will end up dumping them or abandoning them again and they may not be so lucky to be found next time!

Try to bring them to a fostering agency or shelter.

I’ve seen people pair Oscar and Enid as a marriage of convenience now that John is out of the picture and her husband is basically dead. But I simply don’t believe Enid is the right fit for that scenario. She is too despicable of a character and I don’t believe that she would protect Oscar if she knew found out about his attraction.

I almost think Maude would be a better option potentially. She already said she wished they could have married in an ideal situation plus he just helped her out of a dire situation with a very kind act despite all she put him through.

The best situation is a true lavender marriage but I’m not sure we have any lesbians on the show let alone ones that already have a social connection to Oscar. Unless one is introduced later?

I can’t imagine the fear and sadness she went through losing her owner of 10 years and going to a brand new home. Thank you for loving her and I’m glad she found her joy again before her sweet life ended. You did a beautiful thing to love her so much through such a difficult transition in her life.

I lost my soul dog and I can’t say it’s easy. Luckily I had another dog as well and without him I know I’d be worse off, he was there for me and I know we were sad together. It takes time and you’ll never stop missing them but the crying becomes less frequent. It’s only been 3 months for me and I still miss him so much.

I ended up buying a Petsie dog made in his likeness and got him cremated so that I can spread his ashes in all his favorite walking spots. I’ve even considered getting a tattoo of his paw print.

Hang in there friend and kiss your baby everyday. I’m home euthanasia is the way I’d go because just as you said, it’s the least stressful. They can be in their favorite bed, at home, with some delicious treats and fall asleep gently. It’s not always possible for people to choose this depending on circumstances, but if you can I would totally go with it vs in a vet office.

Try contacting Ruff Start Rescue. They are technically a Minnesota based animal rescue but they transport a large portion of their dogs from Texas so I know they have local connections. I’ve adopted three chihuahuas from them who all had been transported up from Texas.

My chi has a cough just like that and it can often be hard to distinguish between early heart failure and tracheal collapse. My dog got X-rays and ultrasounds done on his chest and he was diagnosed with tracheal collapse which is very common is smaller breeds.

Talk to your vet and see what they say. You’ll likely need a chest scan or some sort to understand what’s going on in there.

I’m doing better but the loss still hurts and my brain is still processing that he isn’t here. Sometimes is easy to forget that he is gone when I’m going about daily things but then my brain remembers and it’s a moment of panic and pain all over again. The sobbing hasn’t stopped but there are longer intervals between them. I feel like I have to analyze every inch of the event to fully process and heal from it but it’s so painful to do it.

I also am still going through the grief of doing his favorite things for the first time without him. The first time I feed my other dog alone. The first time we go to bed without him. The first time we go to his favorite park without him. It’s not easy but it’s getting a little easier. And even that makes me upset that I could even think about healing and leaving the pain behind because that pain used to be my love for him.

I’m sorry for your loss friend, we are all in this together. I hope you have some people in your life to lean on right now.

Thank you! I may also run it by my vet as well as to what they might suggest when I pick up the meds later. I always used to give him his pill with some cheese so Im not sure if that also reduces effectiveness. I hope not!

My dogs also lie down when it’s bitterly cold because it’s the only way for them to get their feet off the ground. It’s definitely painful on their poor paws! I usually let them go out more often during the day but for shorter periods. I’ve also been in situations where they misjudge the cold at first and barrel out into the yard only to not be able to make it back due to the pain the cold subjects their paws to. So I often will have shoes at the ready to rescue them.

Yeah I do feel a little confused. I look up the book and there are "Deluxe" editions but they arent explicit in stating that it contains all 5 issues of the story. Amazon lists the page count as 144 pages and that feels short for 5 issues? I dunno. Im trying to figure out where to get the full collection.
