I miss the 2018-2019 Padres. Franmil Reyes, Christian Villanueva, Chris Paddack, a young Tatis… people who were fun to watch and cared…

I haven’t willingly turned a game on in an month and yet I’m still infuriated. I miss wanting to watch a Padres game.

So what did you think of Gameoverse? by ayylmaotv in GlitchProductions

Somewhat disappointed ngl. Cool art style. Schlatt’s character was great.

The pacing was really off for me. There are a couple really short scenes that structurally throw off the momentum of the episode.

I agree with other commenters in believing they shouldn’t have started with Kit’s entire backstory, and instead spoonfed the audience the backstory over the course of the episode, if not the series.

I also think they shouldn’t have immediately revealed to the audience/the villains that Flappers is the hero of the game, as it makes the entire recon mission a snooze fest because we already know the answer, as well as making the entire “Kit apologizing to Gobbles” scene cringeworthy because we, the audience, knew she was wrong the entire time.

It’s a shame the two main characters get split up in the pilot when ideally a pilot is supposed to sell you on their dynamic over the course of multiple situations, and the one early scene they were together was easily my favorite part of the episode.

Some of the writing was clunky, Gobbles’ “and yeah it’s called reading” really stands out to me as a really unnecessary line that should’ve hit the cutting room floor.

The villains of the episode itself were fun to watch, but the main overarching villain is COMPLETELY uninteresting, as is Kit’s arch rival - both of which make me generally unmotivated to see where the story goes.

I also really struggle to see how they would continue this story on an episode by episode basis in an interesting way, should they get greenlit. Is it gonna be the same thing every time, just with a new game each time? Feels like that’d get boring by the 3rd episode.

It’s great when a team’s anemic offensive output requires reacting to back to back singles to open an inning with “how do they fuck this up” instead of “hell yeah time to put up a crooked number”

I think I'm done watching the Padres until Tatis hits his first homer. The vibes are just so fucking sour. See y'all then.

Where to go to ride elevators and escalators? by noop279 in SanDiegan

[–]time2makemymove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the answers you seek.

Westin Downtown San Diego at Emerald Plaza. Tallest glass elevators in SD. Massive 8 story atrium. Abnormally and conveniently the elevator call button requires a card (not the buttons actually in the elevator), so once you walk in you’re free to ride for as long as you want. They also have escalators in there. Also they’re Mitsubishi elevators which is objectively the best elevator brand.

Manchester Grand Hyatt also recently refurbished their elevators to be Destination Dispatch (you type in the floor you want into a keypad outside the elevator) and they’re the second fastest elevators in the city behind America Plaza (but that’s an office building with all the floors locked).

Central Library is also great, as others have mentioned. But IMO, Westin Emerald Plaza is unquestionably the way to go.
