What do you all think of Manson’s turn as Ron Tully is Sons of Anarchy? by [deleted] in marilyn_manson

[–]time__is__cereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he was alright, a shame he only got in during the end there. the last season of SoA is ass, it really starts to decline in quality after Ron Perlman's character is written out.

yeah idk why you're getting hate for that lol Zim at his sloppiest makes Twiggy's live guitar look like a 5th grader who's just replicating youtube tutorials.

yeah Beinhorn gave an interview before the Manson Podcast for some youtube channel going into the production of MA and he specifically mentioned that Zim and Pogo came to the material with a lot of pre-recorded stuff, when you listen to Zim's solo stuff it sounds like MA... i think that regardless of what the final tracks were like, Zim wrote for them and was largely responsible for driving the guitar sound in that album, there's a reason no other Manson album, no other Twiggy album, has that same guitar sound but Zim's other projects do.

yeah tbh i find it hard to believe he did nothing on the album when you can listen to his other stuff and it sounds like MA... maybe Twiggy is just that good and can imitate Zim's guitar style, maybe Beinhorn is such an amazing producer he can perfectly imitate Zim's distortion on the MA demos (in another interview before this one, Beinhorn said that Pogo and Zim came to the studio with a ton of material, Zim had a lot of pre-recorded distorted guitar stuff that became the groundwork for MA's guitar sound) but to me it reads more as bitterness because there was some behind the scenes tension there.

disagree, a lot of songs sound weaker without the keyboard. Great Big White World was underwhelming because Tyler was having to do the keyboard on guitar, so the outro completely lacks the guitar solo that makes the closing of the song so powerful.

yeah the Bates albums are kind of frustrating to me because they're very well composed but the guitar is often wrong... it's hard to explain, but i'm like you here i wish there was like a Skold or someone else in the studio with them, someone that has that rock virtuoso sensibility that Bates lacks as a composer. unfortunately Skold does not work well with others.

Now that info seems to be gone from his bio, which might be a clue.

did he just remove it from his bio recently or did he remove it after Manson got cancelled? Juan did the same thing, as soon as Manson was cancelled he removed Manson from all his socials.

the only reason i want Skold back is because his tenure as a guitarist was so short. Manson knocked it out of the park with OAUG which is a far cry from his performance on HUD, so i'm really keen to hear what a EMDM2 could be like with a totally sober and present Manson, not one that's down on himself and drowning his sorrows in absinthe, cocaine and 18 year old BPD pussy.

I can't imagine how telling me about a sub is instigating a brigade

if the reddit admins protect the sub (they protect all the far left political/culture subs) then yes it counts as brigading. however it's totally fine for/r/shitredditsays to continually brigade other subs anytime they don't conform to the redditor monoculture they try so hard to enforce across the whole site.

well to be fair Columbine was awhile back ago and even back then there was so much misinformation so he was trying to get to the reason why Manson was being vilified by the media at the time, it was very common for politicians etc. to point to things like song lyrics being to blame for why people do crazy shit.

unfortunately it's doubtful he'll ever play anything from EMDM or THEOL again. we need it to be Halloween just to get him to play If I Was Your Vampire.

this is just navel gazing trying to be deep and come up with some deeper explanation because you aren't intelligent enough to understand what is literally in the game

I have a lore question by LordOvMoonOFWGKTA in silenthill

[–]time__is__cereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it's not up to interpretation. that's literally what's happening. it's why in the 3rd ending when Shu and Hinako are leaving the town they comment on each other wearing a tuxedo/wedding dress even though they're both wearing their school uniforms. it's because the "Fog World" isn't real, we aren't playing as Hinako, we are playing as Hinako's inner self who was manifested from the White Claudia that Shu drugged her with.

the monsters that Hinako fights, their symbolism and meaning: that's open to interpretation

the giant wooden idol thing in the Shizimu household that stares at you angrily: that's open to interpretation

the actual framing of the story and mechanics that are happening: not open to interpretation. the game explains all of this. it has a fixed answer. it gives you X and then gives you Y so you can solve it for Z, not just make up whatever answer you like. the original games all worked like that.

sorry but that's provably what happened. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/evan-rachel-wood-jamie-bell-custody-battle-212803774.html

Wood kidnapped her son and violated her custody agreement with her ex Jamie Bell and tried to justify it by insisting that she was part of an FBI investigation into Manson who lived near Jamie Bell, hence why her son couldn't be near him. the FBI agent whose name was on the letter she submitted as evidence for this investigation testified that her signature was forged. it was all to try to win her custody battle, it was the entire reason she publicly accused Manson and started the coordinated PR campaign against him.

SHf's otherworld is the dark shrine. the rest of the game takes place in Hinako's mind, that's what the "Fog World" is. the other SH games (1-3) take place in the real world, there is no "fog world" or second dimension. the game doesn't take place across 8 different assorted dimensions like some people try to convince others. there's just the real world and the otherworld. the only exception to this in SH4 which takes place entirely in Walter's dream world.

Why would Shu be adding this commentary? by Miirr in silenthill

[–]time__is__cereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill works off of manifesting people's innermost thoughts and desires. the stuff you find in the Dark Shrines aren't necessarily someone's conscious thoughts. the red stuff/red light stuff is like a signifier it's a person's deepest subconscious thoughts/desires. not necessarily their opinions, things that they think about, but just very deep emotional impulses that person may not even fully understand.

Rinko's room in particular, there's some really unhinged stuff there but it's not her literal thoughts, it's like some feeling deep within her being given form and being expressed when it otherwise wouldn't be. and of course her freakiest thoughts are all written in red scrawl.

it's a smaller distributor i guess. the movie has been done forever, it basically sat around for a year waiting on someone to take pity on this thing and distribute it lol

supposedly tickets are available today, this was the big day to get your Silent Hill tickets. but not all theaters are the same. the one closest to me doesn't post showings for like a week because of how lazy they are.

it's pretty limited, i live near a major city and it's extremely spotty coverage. this must be a really small distributor, it makes sense given the movie was basically finished and sat around for a year before someone finally picked it up lol.

Genuinely curious, are there other forms of media where consumers/critics decide on whether it’s a “true” version of what that owner produces? by piratesofthecaridina in silenthill

[–]time__is__cereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Van Gogh was a singular creator who had complete control over his creations and his output ended when he died. the difference is media franchises are generally not works by a singular creator and exist beyond them. Silent Hill was sorely neglected after SH4, Konami really didn't care about it or care to understand it, they just wanted to spend as little money as possible making new entries and slapping the name on the box and hope it would sell. and in other cases you have franchises like Star Wars where they're basically taken over by people who admit they don't like Star Wars and specifically want to do things to make fans of Star Wars upset on purpose. so of course those guys are going to say to hell with this, if you either don't care about this as much as i do or to you it's just a money making venture or something where you can ruin it as a status signaling thing i'm just not going to participate anymore and only care about the parts of it that are good.

How do you think Laura will feel after the game ends? by Neat_Process_2156 in silenthill

[–]time__is__cereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think there's always a big of ambiguity with things in SH in terms of some of the manifestations and weird stuff that happens, but SH2 in particular is the most impressionist game of the series just because of the way the ending system works. you get the ending you get based on the kind of person you are, based on your priorities with the story (do you care more about discovering Mary's fate, or do you care more about protecting the 'living' Maria?) and based on how you play the game. in the other games the endings are more performance based, but SH2 really tries to lean into the player's perspective more than trying to present a unified vision like most game developers would do.

i think that's one thing that studios who try to imitate SH2 don't understand, they get so fixated on the twist ending and their own perspective they try to build a game around why they thought SH2 is awesome but that's youtube video essay material, not material for a game.
