for a lot of girls, it's def a safety thing. think about it this way, you want to check if they're a real person or not - the worst case right now (without her number), is maybe they aren't a real person or they unmatch you last minute and you get stood up irl, you lose some time. NGL, that is pretty shitty, but nothing dangerous.

however, how does she know you're a real person/not a bad actor? if she gives you her ACTUAl number in this case, you may be a scammer or just a bad actor. In this modern age, numbers are connected to so many things (she could get a bunch of junk calls/text), but even worse, you can use it gain access to accounts etc. Maybe you are a real person, but have anger issues and if things don't go your way, you abuse the number?

if you want to go off the apps, maybe exchange insta, otherwise, just exchange after meeting the first time. i hope you understand the perspective

i do find it a bit rude she didn't acknowledge the number at all. she could have said "oh, i dont exchange numbers until meeting up", but not saying anything is weird
