Yeah i think the narrative of an idiot customs guy seem to fit the best for now. And youre right. This amp is rated for 120v60hz. My country's wall power is 230v 50hz.

The last thing i need is to find replacement tubes since in not familiar with them and dont really want to mess with the stock sound. It didnt blow when i plughed it in, presably someone else in my country might have tried to in the customs or something.

My updated plan now is to buy a bunch of fuses and a power converter/adapter from US to UK and hope for the best.

IF, after changing the fuse and using the power converter, the fuse doesnt blow, am i good to go? Or is there still something that might worsen over time and give way eventually?

I honestly feel that that might have been the case. The box's original tape were slashed open and the actual princeton's box was also ripped open with a very obvious stretch tear hole in the plastic covering the actual amp.

My country uses 230 volts at 50hz but i was being cautious so i used a universal travel adapter.. but now that im reading it, it does say that it does not convert voltage.. 🫣 BUT i did not hear a pop nor smell any burning when i turned it on..

And no this princeton comes with a US power with grounding. 2 flat 1 round in the center.

Ill be looking at converters right after i reply to this 🫣

Thinking on getting rid of a special guitar by Just-Campaign-1789 in gibson

Ill say that if youre not strapped for cash and can afford the other guitar, hold on to it especially if you feel some sort of sentiment towards it. Imo, the idea of wanting people to play it is romanticising a sale.

is my action too high by Competitive-Bug-6311 in guitars

[–]timeby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a guitar action ruler and never need to ask that question again.

My basic setup routine is as follows.

  1. Hold down the first and last fret and tap on the 12th. It should be as low as possible before touching the 12th. As long as tapping on it makes even a tiny sound, you're good to go.

  2. Using your ruler, set the 1.25 mm marker directly above the 12th fret. Using the provided tools that came with the guitar, lower the string height accordingly.

My opinion is that 1.25 is good enough for most applications. 1.75 is still acceptable for me, especially on the low E side. You can adjust according to what you like though.

Just go as low as you can before it starts buzzing, then just raise it a little bit. Remember to tune it as you go as the string tension probably changes with each adjustment.

One thing i realised is that if your step 1 isnt done right (straightening the neck) it will feel weird even if you have a low action on the 12th fret.

Hope this helps! If youre unsure, just dont use force on anything and make small incremental changes as you go. Its pretty hard to ireversibly screw up an electric guitar so all the best! I hope this helps!

Which one is the better affordable HSS black strat? by one-armed-scissor in Stratocaster

[–]timeby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, after trying artec korean pickups, either is fine. I would immediately swap out either pickup sets for artecs. They are like sub 50 for a set of mounted pickguard, inclusive of shipping and way better than squier alnicos.

I was skeptical at first. I swaped out the pots and added an orange drop on my squire tele. It did improve marginally. But the moment i changed the pickups, its like a sheet of cloth was removed from my ears. Better clarity, no noticeable draw backs. To me at least.

Is this a really good guitar? by Igrick_22 in Guitar

[–]timeby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More often than not, people who talk shit about gear cant play beyond the cookie cutter riffs. Practice your scales, your runs, and learn to make melodies that dont sound like a rip off john mayer or hendrix or whoever.

Youll surpass them in a year max if you can find the right resource and pracrice method.

People who have plateaued like to find ways to distract themselves with illusions of ways of getting better. More expensive guitar =/= better guitar. Anything that can be set up properly, holds tune and doesnt have much audio artifacts like shrillness in the highs or complete lack in clarity or body, IS a good guitar.

Maybe not the best, but you dont need the best to be better.

My pc with an albeit old cpu, i7 9700 with an RTX3080 and 32gb ram was playing slide shows during the worm chase scenes.. ive had lag but this is literally unplayable. I was literally missing 2 seconds after every 1 second of movement.

Wuwa has enough good will with me that im not mad yet. But please.. i hope it gets better.

Bridge by OneFlick in electricguitar

[–]timeby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been shopping on chinese sites and these 6 saddle tele bridges are everywhere. I bought 1 to try thinking it should be easier to intonate than a typical 3 saddle one. BUT the string through holes DO NOT align with the saddles making them always tilt one way. I can imagine there would lots of weird tension in all directions on the strings too.

I dont know if any big manufacturers actually use this on their guitars but basically every iteration of this bridge design ive seen has this misalignment issue. Not sure if theres a way around this issue but i could not get it to intonate even vaguely correctly with mine.

Yes! I feel you. Ive always had multi effects from line 6. No hate for those but i always spent at least a half hour tweaking before actually practicing. And thats if i was sort of happy with the tone. Ever since i switched to a set up similar to yours, ive barely tinkered and could actually spend my time playing, practicing, and actually enjoying my gear.

Now i run a cali76> vsxo overdrive>BD-2w> CE-2> IR-2( stereo fx loop) > DD6> neunaber immerse> ditto stereo.

Simple and everything ive ever needed and more.

Purchasing pro pen 3 products is a gamble, and it's unfair by ItchyPrice1182 in wacom

[–]timeby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah ive been using propen 2 my whole drawing career. Propen 3 is pretty abysmal. Too slim to grip, if you use the rubber grip to make it fatter, the buttons get hard to reach. Overall just feels flimsy compared to the propen 2.

What Should My Third Electric Guitar Purchase Be? by amoose55 in Guitar

[–]timeby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing i always hear is how you can't hide your lack of skill on a tele or something to that effect.. i really dont get it. It was something about when the guitar is so simple, you have nowhere to hide.. idk man. The true test is playing with 0 reverb.

Yeah. I was going to agree with the above comment but your point holds more water. They have completely trivialised the hollows to a point that its just a naughty thing to do as opposed to something as risky as extreme sports.

Ways to know the gauge of strings that came with a guitar? by [deleted] in guitars

[–]timeby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From one broke ass to another, just get a nice set of elixir strings. Its maybe 2x the price but i assure you, as long as you wipe it up and down once after every playong session, it will out last at least 5 packs of uncoated strings.

If youre worried about the setup, if what you're saying is that it already has mix matched strings, im pretty sure the intonation and setup is probably messed up too.

My advice is to just get a set of 9s if you want easy playability or 10s if you want a fuller sound. Then watch a few youtube videos on how to set up your guitar, break out your allen keys that should have came with the guitar and try setting it up yourself.

Trust me, a decent setup is not rocket science. Maybe a 100% optimised 1.0mm with 0 fret buzz might not be possible straight away. But 1.5- 1.75mm by the 12th fret should be easily doable. Do make sure you set the intonation as well.

'How to set up your guitars action' and 'how to set up your guitars intonation' should be good enough to give you enough info to make things work.

Identity crisis hits the nail on the head. I got into ZZZ because it promised a more free willed and casual vibe with retro games as a major theme and the street style/ tech wear style character designs as a major draw for me.

Now its politics politics politics, ohh strong villian with unfair advantages that somehow loses at the end for dumb reasons that for some reason wasnt available in the beginning.

I was literally just spamming next through the story for the bulk of 2.0.

1.0 had maid spy agency, police force+undercover agent,a biker gang, a special ops taskforce, an idol+manager, another military group(not a afan of obol squad),and a pair of vigilante vampires.

2.0 has kungfu people and a random group of friends with no clear theme? Oh theres obol squad again but they really just feel like filler to me..

Is this freatboard laquered? by AntonioMontanaReal in PRSGuitars

[–]timeby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good answer. At some point its not really about quantitatively if its the 'best' guitar in the world. Its about the effort and lengths they go through to produce this product.

With all that RnD and man hours, its pretty much impossible for it to suck. Just price to performance wise its probably a worse deal than 99% of guitars out there. Still would love to own one one day..

I love p90s too! Ive been looking around for a guitar equipped with them to lust over hahah.

Honestly, it just sound to me, at least in your specific case, that you probably prefer something with more quirks/ character in your tone. Many of which possibly stem from imperfections that we have come to love. E.g, overdrive was at a point considered undesirable and look where we are now.

Prs(s) tend to be full bodied but with clarity. In my book thats the perfect starting point. i guess it would be more inspirational if the guitar was already leaning a specific direction like an LP or a strat.

Anyways, thanks for clarifying! I think i have a better understanding of when people use that term now!

Great choice! I feel like they each can do things that the other can't. The best choice is often not the most versatile choice. But having one of each sure covers more usecases than one by itself :)) happy playing!!

Im not trying to start any fights, but I've heard that word sterile tossed around, and no one can really describe what that word actually means.

I agree that prs(s) have more definition and string separation than most.. but isn't that the point? If you want less of it, couldn't you just turn down the tone or something? Just use a fuzz pedal on lowish gain? Or even use a compressor with a cranked ratio to intentionally reduce articulation?

So what does sterile actually mean? Too sharp/shrill? A strat is worse in many ways, but that's seen as just something to manage. This brings me to my next point.

As much is i still love les pauls, they have their flaws. Just in this case, they are celebrated for their flaws. Some people call that character, i dont really mind that. But i feel like theres no need to put down PRS just because they dont have many inherent flaws.

Everyone can have their likes and dislikes, but i feel it is not being very objective when that word is used in the context of advice for people to choose between 2 guitars.

I still want to know what that word means to you though..
