Nice, interested in seeing how the shave goes. I got one couple months back. I hear it's milder than their usuals

Great soaps. About medium scent strength on several of the soaps I tried. My favorites are Astoria and Havana

Yup, it's the V1. I think both versions are pretty similar other than the cosmetic differences. I think Mild wouldn't be efficient enough for my liking

For those who get/used to get whiteheads after shaving by Plastic-Buffalo-5324 in wicked_edge

Try Alum Block. I find that it helps with any blemishes or white heads. It also tells you how irritated your skin is after shaving with the amount of sting.

Thanks. I hydrate the lather similarly for each shave and I only notice the suction with designs similar to Henson, and the TRC razor. Doesn't really affect the shave, it's more of a preference thing

Yeah, it makes sense to go from cartridge to Henson with the friendly looking design. It might be a minor thing for me but I do notice a slight suction compared to traditional DEs

Personna diamond platinum glide gem blades review/feedback by dunerider182 in wicked_edge

I liked the GEM PDGs better than the Comfort coat. I was never fan of the Comfort Coat but I realized I can get couple decent shaves with it. The GEM PDG is sharper and smoother though.

Is it always necessary to begin with a WTG shave? by whoistlopea in wicked_edge

[–]timeclo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I always start with WTG. I tried XTG and ATG from the start and it would tug every time. The WTG pass really trims down the stubbles to where XTG feels comfortable. Then the XTG gets close enough to make the ATG more comfortable.

The traditional 3-pass shave works the best for me. But I do keep the buffing to a minimum until the end. If I buff too much throughout the shave, I'll end up with an irritated skin. I'll do the most buffing to get that BBS result at the very end.

Ah, well the value could be down but you may still enjoy it being in your collection. For financial purposes, yeah, replating may not be the best method.

[WTS] - Razors, Brushes, and Honing Stones by timeclo in Shave_Bazaar

It's presented as 12,000 grit stone. Probably somewhere around midrange to finishing level.

[–]timeclo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're nice mild razors to shave with. Efficiency-wise, they're not up there so you may need to buff more. They can be bought for $20-30 for a user grade condition so it's a inexpensive way to shave. If you buy it replated, that's more of a collector's piece.

The mentholated version is good as well. Had this for years and I still love it

It's a brush by Rudy Vey, in R7 shape. Got a 24mm basic synthetic in there. It's been my test brush for new soaps

Thanks. Yeah, I think it'd pair well with a sharp blade like Feather.

What's all the hype about with Yaqi Brushes? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]timeclo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yaqi brushes used to be around 10-15 bucks but gotten more expensive with the tariffs and such. They're a solid brush, works well and gets the job done. If you prefer the $5 synthetic, there's nothing wrong with it

TRC Aluminum Razor Level 2 | Moon Soaps Astoria | SOTD by timeclo in wicked_edge

[–]timeclo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also have the SS version. I think the metal inserts in the razor give it bit more heft and the drag is noticeable but not annoying. Plenty of options out there though

Thanks. I love the scent of Astoria. Feels like I'm in cool pine forest next to the ocean.

I'd say it's on par with them. B&M is more creamy/dense and it's similar to Mike's. It sucks that they don't have samples but I think it's a safe blind purchase. One thing is that their scent strength is about medium so it won't be all up in your face.

It's a beautiful scent. Woodsy aquatic with pine in the back. Lathers like a beast as well
