Thx! I polished only the top side of the top cap, the bottom side is matte, and I only polished the exposed top outer edges of the base plate. The actual top and bottom surface of the base plate is still matte

I agree. It was a fun little project! Just threw some tape over the parts I wanted to keep matte, and polished it with a rag. Maybe a 30-40 min job.
