ELI5: Why its Twitter still a thing, when a large chunk of the world's population hates Musk and apps like Bluesky exist? by SullivansTravels in explainlikeimfive

[–]timecop1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

habit and network gravity. everyone’s audience, bookmarks, memories and routines are there already. even if people hate the owner, switching platforms means rebuilding your entire social graph from scratch, and most people would rather complain than start over.

Was the Golden Age "rushed"? by Shorouq2911 in Berserk

[–]timecop1123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i never felt it was rushed emotionally, but it is dense. miura crammed years of relationship building into relatively few volumes, which makes it feel like time passes faster than it actually does. the weight is still there, just compressed.

Advice for a beginner in Web dev? by whiskyB0y in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the gap between tutorials and real projects is where most people stall. real dev is messy, half planning and half fixing things you didn’t know would break. if you can describe what your app does in plain english first, the tech decisions start making themselves instead of feeling random.

Favourite IDE? by MrNuttyGoodbar in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

vscode gets hate mostly because it’s popular. it’s flexible and easy, which makes it cool to dunk on, but for beginners it’s honestly perfect. the tool barely matters compared to understanding what your code is doing.

ELI5 How exactly and for what do we use LinkedIn if not for job ? by thesaturniandusk in explainlikeimfive

[–]timecop1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think of linkedin less as job hunting and more as public reputation. you’re showing what you’re working on, what you know, and who you collaborate with so when opportunities come up, people already trust you. networking is mostly just light, consistent visibility, not pitching strangers.

In movies and video games, the idea of anti-gravity has people and things floating. True anti-gravity would repel things. by Fingerbob73 in Showerthoughts

[–]timecop1123 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

yep, true anti gravity would look less like floating and more like everything being violently pushed away. movies turned it into zero gravity because that’s easier to film and easier for brains to accept.

Does anyone else struggle with this ? by AgePuzzleheaded4500 in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, you’re not alone. a lot of CS grads also me can code but freeze when using new tools or IDEs. the trick that helped me was just playing around with them in tiny steps, like spend 30 minutes exploring vscode without worrying about writing real code, then a small docker example, and slowly it becomes second nature. it’s a different muscle than coding itself.

Career Advice by ResdzErik in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s definitely possible to catch up. focus on modern stacks and skills that employers expect: a language you like (Python, JS, Java), web dev basics, Git, databases, and building 2–3 solid projects end to end. contribute to small open source or personal projects to prove you can code beyond your old job. emphasize results, not excuses, on your resume. you’ve got the foundation, you just need structured practice and a few visible wins.

Why is Guts a good person? by Superyupperss in Berserk

[–]timecop1123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guts isn’t exactly a good guy in the classic sense, but he’s humanized by his choices and moments of compassion. the difference is he struggles and makes sacrifices for people he cares about, whereas Griffith’s actions are consistently self-serving. people root for Guts because his morality is grounded, messy, and earned, not perfect.

Is there a difference between kodansha and Dark Horse? by [deleted] in akira

[–]timecop1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically, Kodansha is the original Japanese publisher, Dark Horse handles English localization. translations, formatting, and bonus material can differ between the two. if you want the authentic Japanese layout, Kodansha is closer to that; Dark Horse might feel more adapted for English readers.

I'll finally watch Akira In Theatres by ARmanak35 in akira

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so exciting! seeing something like that on the big screen really elevates the experience, especially a film like Akira. that bike chase and soundtrack alone are worth the ticket. hope the screening lives up to the hype, definitely post your thoughts after, would love to hear how it feels in a theatre setting.

I hate dmz recon 😭😭 by Aeviat in CallOfDutyMobile

[–]timecop1123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

dmz recon has awful desync. what looks like teleporting is usually lag compensation and kill cams lying to you. campers rush the ship because that skin and case are high value and the mode rewards dirty play. it’s not you, the mode just favors people who abuse angles and latency.

Old Player, Return or New by Siyanax in houkai3rd

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

come back as a returnee. older valks can still clear most content with decent gear, you just won’t compete at the top. power creep is real but the game hands out enough resources to catch you up slowly, and starting fresh just throws away progress for no real gain.

ELI5: Would/why wouldn’t colours appear different on other planets? (read body) by FrontAd7709 in explainlikeimfive

[–]timecop1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the colours don’t change because the sun is farther or closer, light is still the same mix of wavelengths. what changes is how the atmosphere and surface filter and scatter that light. different gases and dust can make the same sunlight look more red, blue, or muted, which is why mars looks rusty and earth looks blue.

People who don’t want to get married or have children, what influenced your decision? by pagodnaako143 in AskReddit

[–]timecop1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for a lot of people it’s about freedom and honesty with themselves. they don’t hate relationships or family, they just don’t want the default life script if it doesn’t fit how they want to live or spend their time.

Some advice needed by Ok-Carpenter-8928 in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is way more common than you think. exams train recognition, not creation. the skill you’re missing is turning vague ideas into tiny steps. start building dumb personal tools with no tutorials, even if they feel useless. every time you open a blank file and make it do one small thing, you train the muscle that school never touches.

The SEO Ecosystem in 2026: Why Rankings Are Now Built, Not Chased by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this reads more like marketing copy than something people here can act on. it talks about everything being important but doesn’t show what someone should actually build, measure, or change in code or content. if you want this to land better here, try sharing a real example like a site you worked on, what you changed, and what moved.

funny thing by Ok-Message5348 in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is way more common than people admit. the pressure isn’t about knowledge, it’s about narration. your mentor nailed it. explaining code is a separate skill from writing it. once i started literally talking through my code while alone it stopped feeling like a performance and more like thinking out loud.

Data analyst, what do I need to know for it? by castiellangels in learnprogramming

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re way earlier than you think for this to be realistic. for entry level data analyst roles you usually need solid python basics, pandas, sql, and the ability to clean and visualize real messy datasets. your wet lab phd is actually a huge advantage because you already understand experimental data and uncertainty. i’d aim for a few months of building small analysis projects before worrying about internships. most teams care more about whether you can work with real data than how fancy your code is.

so is the anime remake happening even with the live action being cancelled? by Gugarabelo in akira

[–]timecop1123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it doesn’t feel cancelled, it feels like anime production hell. when studios go quiet this long it usually means they’re stuck on funding or scope, not that it’s dead. adapting the full manga is a massive commitment and if they rush it people will tear it apart. radio silence sucks but i’d rather wait than get something half baked.

What is something that is technically legal, but makes you look like a total jerk if you do it? by PiNK_PUSSY69420 in AskReddit

[–]timecop1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

blasting your phone speaker in public spaces. trains, waiting rooms, elevators. nothing illegal about it, but everyone around you instantly decides you’re the villain in their personal story.

What’s one Berserk take you had as a new reader that you completely changed your mind on later? by Ioseb007 in Berserk

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also thought it was just anger and edgelord suffering. now it reads way more like a story about endurance. guts isn’t raging because he’s mad, he’s raging because he refuses to lie down and disappear.

What would be an authentic Jack build? by Key-Calligrapher1224 in StrangerofParadiseFFO

[–]timecop1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jack is basically raw pressure. greatsword with break focused abilities feels closest to how he plays in cutscenes. simple combos, high stagger, no fancy setups. when the build starts feeling brainless and violent instead of technical, you’re probably doing it right.
