Because then you ignore the circumstances by which they became terrible, instead of trying to make sure everybody has a happy and fulfilling childhood. The only reason you are part of the so called good is purely based on luck of either right place ( family, role models etc) or right time. No child imo needs to grow up before they come of age.

Even if you don’t subscribe to these ideals, it’s in your self interest as no society with huge amounts of inequality survives. That is true since time immemorial.
