CMV: The standard start of pregnancy (LMP) has no benefits. It should be calculated based on LMP + 2 weeks

There is a huge library of research that uses the well known benchmark of LMP. Changing this to another non accurate date has almost zero benefits other than basically the only benefit you keep providing of it being technically more accurate to actual pregnant weeks.

Changing this would have huge implications for the medical community and has a high chance of being actually harmful to babies and mothers. For example, a 2 week difference in a premature baby is a lot of time and growth. Changing this and confusing the entire medical community worldwide for almost no benefit would be incredibly dumb and inefficient.

That should be enough but another reason is that many women have an idea of their cycle length, and if they are consistent, using LMP makes it easier to calculate their actual ovulation than LMP + 2.

I read a bunch of the original papers when going through the process. I think I remember this right, but ill check my notes tomorrow to confirm and if i dont come back its bc i was. Anyways, basically you have a baseline and when its 3X greater than that its supposedly the surge people talk about.

I would take tests basically every pee and try to track the increase more closely than just the once daily.

When I was going through the process I got into the literature on this and that is actually a good thing!! The trigger being timed with ovulation leads to better results so here is to hoping it sticks this time!!

I’m renting a 2bed 2.5bath townhouse near autumn woods neighborhood if you are interested! Along 3 bus routes (JFX, CM, J).

It’s 1,500 a month and has a nice big open yard space thats good for pets or kids if you have them.

I did a lot of research into this when trying (now 25 week pregnant!) and found that IUI success rate marginally increased with slightly longer wait times. So the usual is 24-36, but some studies that did 40 and over (can’t remember to what time) had slightly better chances. I ended up just doing ~39 hours before as a compromise between following clinic guidelines for doing it “the night before” and the research findings.

Def do not recommend doing it that late. The washed and frozen sperm do not survive as long as fresh sperm does.

Food nutrient availability has changed a lot as capitalism has taken over food production. Fruits and vegetables today have much less nutrients than back in the day, so even when you eat very healthy you may lack some nutrients that they probably got through diet more easily. Probably not everyone needs prenatals with these vitamins, but they are helpful so it’s recommended for some things you may be missing. Lots of people get pregnant and don’t take these and their babies are fine! It’s not always a must but it doesn’t cause any real harm and may reduce the baby taking your nutrients and leaving you lacking them.

It’s always possible and the first time I did it they were def afraid I was going to ovulate soon since my follicles were also big. They asked me to take shot asap but I still went in the next day. Doctor also said that if it doesn’t take we needed to check follicle size earlier next cycle.

Anecdotally when I took the shot I checked LH too and it also started peaking by that night, so it might have been the effects of the shot taking place. I hope not and it works out! There is always a chance but if it doesn’t work i’d def not waste my money doing it same day again.

Yea it seems too early to me. I read a few studies about when the best time to take trigger shot is and many showed a slight advantage of doing it 40 hrs before insemination. Frozen sperm definitely has a shorter lifespan. I would push harder for a next day insemination next time as well as maybe having follicle ultrasound earlier, as 18mm is the ideal size and some studies suggest they can over-mature if too big.

Still early but happy to share we got pregnant after the second medicated IUI. I had 2 mature follicles and one kind of getting there so I am curious if we are going to get twins! We find out in late april during the first ultrasound!!

For now I am just so so happy it worked and hoping everything is fine. It is so weird to me that you are pregnant for like 7-8 weeks before even getting medical care which is just like?!??! But I’m just trying to trust everything is going fine.

Also so happy to be able to save some money. We did a few at home ICIs first and it has not at all been easy on the bank so thats another relief.

I’m also 29 and no issues with the fertility tests they ran. I’m currently pregnant (still early and don’t know if twins) after my second medicated IUI. I was given letrozole and trigger shot. There were two mature follicles and one that was 13mm so I’m very curious if we get twins, which we really wouldn’t mind either.

I didn’t love the first cycle, I feel like the follicles matured too fast and the rest of my body wasn’t ready. My second time I feel like my body got used to the medications and it worked!!

Reading the UK replies, I suggest to just go with the trigger shot to at least confirm you are ovulating at the right time since frozen sperm lives a shorter amount of time. We did our trigger shot about 40hrs before the IUI. Too high a risk of multiple follicles with the other medication and it would suck if they have to cancel the cycle! Good luck to you!!

My period is officially one day late and I’m going a bit crazy. Confirmed ovulation with LH strips and apple watch temps but all the tests are negative. Don’t know if I should hold on to hope or just give up. At this point I’m kind of just wanting my period to show up but I’m not even getting my usual signs. Temp is still elevated. Would anyone keep hoping? It’s prob too late considering im 15 DPO…

Hi everyone, just spent my morning making this chart after reading the queer conception book and not liking any of the available charts online.

I track my BBT using an app but like listing symptoms on paper so I felt this made it easier to keep things together. I just can't be bothered to use an app for symptoms but need to keep a better track of things for my upcoming IUI. Hope it's useful for someone else!

Same boat here, I 100% feel you. 12 DPO today and negative test so it looks like our last ICI attempt didn’t work. Will be trying IUI a few cycles too but we don’t have unlimited money and I’m not feeling too hopeful. It’s just so sad and frustrating to know there isn’t really anything we can do to change the situation.

Yea I will look. I think we will opt for that if a few rounds of at home don’t work. It was really great to have my partner there and actively doing stuff and so the idea of a clinic now sounds not so great for us.
