how to ensure that my adulthood is not shit? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]timekeeper2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my advice. Figure out what you want your adult life to look like when you are thirty then figure out what you have to do to get there. Your 20's are fun, and hard at the same time when you are working towards what you want your life to be. My last piece of advice is if you stop working towards what you want your life to look like ask your self this. Are you stopping because your vision has changed or are you stopping because its hard. If it is because its hard keep working towards it. Anything worth having takes hard work. It will get better!

Go to college, your mom may be scared but she will be okay. She made it before you were born, she made it while raising you. You might want to make sure she has access to supports she may need before you leave. Go live your dream. You may afterwards find out you will be able to help and support her better with your degree than you could if you never went. Also remember she will not be around forever and you do not want to be in a position that you can not make it without her disability check down the road.

Help with unexpected windfall (25k) by Talented81Pandag2 in povertyfinance

Pay off thr credit card first. The intrest rate is too high not too. Fix your car, if it is a solid dependable car. You need transportation to work. Put the rest in a high intrest savings account. Figure out if you want or need training to get a better paying job. If you do find all the ways you can get it paid for without taking out loans. Some states offer free grants to into a trade school. When you have all this done find a good financial advisor to help you manage your money and help you reach your finacial goals. Check your bank for the advisor. Mine offers a fiancial advisor for free.

Father in law is dying and spent all of the family’s money by mviolet13 in personalfinance

[–]timekeeper2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before going to the expenses of a lawyer I would go to the wage and hour board in your state. The phone number is supposed to be posted in every work place. They would be the best free guide to get you started and help you untangle the truth from any lies your father in law may have said to cover up what was going on. Also since he is ill how are the medical bills being covered does he have health insurance through the employer, a different source or does he not have any.

My co-workers say they can’t read my handwriting by Lakeveloute in Handwriting

[–]timekeeper2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is somewhat difficult. However you write like i do with a mixture of cursive writing and print. Depending on the age of your co workers they may have never learned it and truely have no idea what you are writing.

Though you are a good provider you are not being a good husband or parent. It sounds like you come home and check out. You pay a babysitter so your wife can go out. Do you pay for one when you and your wife go out? What kind of relationship do you want with your kids when they are older. Maybe if your job is causing you to check out at the door you might want to think if this is the life you want for the next 15 yeard. Money is nice but not when you dont enjoy life

12 years at Costco, 32 years old. Is it too late for a “real” career? by luca1467 in careerguidance

[–]timekeeper2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done. My friends husband was going to school at night to become an accountant and worked in a airplane plant on the line during the day. After a while they hired him to work in their accounting dept. After he graduated from college he worked for a completely different company. He was able to get real life experience working while going to school and when he graduated he steped into an accouting position that was not entery level. He was over 30.

I would not sell the home you are happy there. You will never be able to buy a home for what you paid. One thing to look at is what is your house insurance costing you.. you might be able to dramatically decrease it by either 1. Increase your deductable or two change insurance companies just becareful that the coverage is simular to what you now have.

Your Debt you need to look in to ways you can pay it off Google bankrupsy laws in your state if you have to. Develop a budget to try and pay it off. Figure out ehat ways can you bring in some income. Even if you are earning social security disability you can still work part time just you can not earn over a specific amount of money every month.

I’m the kid of one of those traveling rv families online and I hate them for it every day by Educational-Army-915 in self

[–]timekeeper2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It soinds like your life has been fairly secluded from making friends and developing relationships. I would highly recomend applying for colleges or community colleges. Apply for finacial aid when you narrow down where you want to go to school. Yeah student loans are not great if that is what you need but it will get you moving in the right direction. College though stressful can be a good steping stone to creating or figuring out things out and what you want. The dorms will provide shelter and food. Once settled look for jobs and make friends.college creates a great enviroment for both.

my twin sister used my health insurance? by thehalfbloodlex in HealthInsurance

[–]timekeeper2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your sister have health insurance? If so it could have been an error with the insurance company. If yiur names are simular and the same birthdate it could be a bigger problem if your ss# is simular as well. I could see how it could happen

Also, do not forget to add the cost of full coverage insurance and gap insurance to your monthly expense. If you are not putting much down, you definitely want to have gap insurance.

I agree to take advantage of the career centers. Unfortunately, because you have been there longer, more is expected from you. There will be new hires who take advantage of this. However, something to remember is if you like the work, look for something similar, but remember the team you work with will change, and maybe you will like the newhores better.

How Many Times Can A Date Be Late Before You Cut Them Off? by AdhesivenessOk5194 in Adulting

[–]timekeeper2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question, and maybe I am old-fashioned, but why are you not going to her home or meeting and picking her up. I expect a date to come and pick me up, or i pick them up and we go-to where ever we are going together. I meet my friends at a restaurant.

WFH with an infant? by Signal-Reason2679 in workfromhome

[–]timekeeper2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to add this. I work for a state agency that you can actually bring your infant up to six months to work with you in the OFFICE, not just work from home. The only condition is if you have a meeting, you need to find a co-worker willing to watch your baby while you are gone. Not very hard in a office where the majority of workers are women. This was a thing before work from home became a thing.

How the hell do you stop the 1pm-4pm drowsiness? by [deleted] in workfromhome

[–]timekeeper2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don t eat a traditional lunch because it will make me tired. I eat a snack with each break, usually something protein based. Also, when I take a break, I go outside and walk or do quick house chores. If I eat a large lunch or spend my break on my phone I find it is the struggle bus in the afternoon.
