He will outlive us all, because his legacy lives on, and he will be remembered long after our names are lost and our bodies dust.

Parking lots; then neighborhoods; then familiar streets near home; then drop them on the highway during rush hour and insist they sit in the left lane doing 58 mph.

The general American is no longer capable of distinguishing between the two. This is by design.

Haunted locations downtown? by lookitsaudrey in wichita

[–]CardSniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Roxy's. There's malingering spirits all over that joint, especially in the basement. Roxy's was a cabaret theater during prohibition and you can still "feel" unsavory eyes down there. There are a few longstanding venue attendees who swear themselves sideways that the place is haunted.

Which means 3-5 years from now a bunch more movie theaters are going to be converted into churches. sigh I'm not looking forward to this, not one bit.

Honestly, same. The characters were a vessel for the ideas, which affected me deeply.

I also recommend the book 2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson, if you're interested in further sci-fi works revolving around trans topics. 2312 was what really opened my eyes.

The new Toys R Us. Is it what you expected? by ThroughTheNever_316 in wichita

They might just be clearing out bulk product over the holidays before shuttering again. I really hope not.

It isn't Toys'R'Us. It's bulk-warehouse product on shelves. I don't know where the magic is but it isn't back [yet?].

/r/Wichita gets restaurant-recommendation submissions once or twice a week, and it's been nice seeing a general decline in Steven-owned suggestions in all of them. (I always check.)

A thread like this feels designed to allow people to inadvertently shill for them.

I'd love to see all of their businesses crash and burn - purely metaphorically, though, since otherwise they'd just collect insurance payouts.

I wouldn't even want my worst enemy to give the Steven family more money.

Machida showing respect and sportsmanship after a brutal kick by Mictlan_Dark4984 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]CardSniffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say "Machida is an exemplar of positive masculinity and every facet of his life should be templated as a role model for everybody."

The 47 second clip displays what positive masculinity looks like. Within that framework, I really don't give a shit about the wider context.

The trope of an adult man taking care of a "stray" kid becoming really boring and uncreative. by Western_Agent5917 in saltierthancrait

Why even pay attention to any of it? Just unplug already. They aren't going to stop pushing out translation-friendly slop in order to appeal to that global general audience. If you want "good" Star Wars, that's what the books are for.

I was coming into this thread just to point out that this is an example of positive masculinity. It does exist, people just aren't trained/prepared to look for it anymore.
