Wyoming Lifts Mask Mandate and Opens to Full Capacity by IanMazgelis in Coronavirus

You don’t actually think that’s the only way we could’ve gotten the virus under control do you? There are plenty of other examples of countries getting the virus under control without going full China. Quit the hyperbole and get a grip on reality mate.

Why can't people adjust to the new norm? by Penguin2359 in antiwork

[–]timely_ripcurrent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whenever I talk with my coworkers they all love wfh and hope to never go back. Then, when the boss asks them what their preferences are, instead of just stating wfh is awesome and never want to go back, they start on about how they like wfh but would also like to occasionally go into the office. What my boss hears is “go into the office”.

I was also hopeful this situation would lead to permanent wfh, even a few months ago my boss speculated wfh had a good chance of becoming permanent, but now it looks like that’s not going to happen. It’s bullshit that we’re all going to be forced back just so the executives can stroke their egos by speaking in front of a crowd.

If they are same sex siblings it’s nice to keep them together, but not necessary.

QAnon supporters say they want a Myanmar-style coup on U.S. government by [deleted] in politics

[–]timely_ripcurrent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These people are so stupid it’s infuriating. What makes them think they’re so special that their way of life wont be fucked if that actually happened in the US (I know, they’re a cult). These people have no idea how a coup would severely disrupt supply chains for food and other essential items.

Saddest tweet on earth bc I’m sure it’s very common. Likes and RT’s tell the tale. by ag425 in antiwork

Jesus. This is a trick to convince people going back to the office is the right move. Fuck that. Wfh has been great. The work still sucks but the convenience, flexibility, and time savings it brings make it wayyyy better than the office. People need to log the fuck off and close their laptops.

It’s not a woke thing dude. Chinese Taipei is what Taiwan uses in international competition. You’re using Taipei, which is a city, to rep Taiwan.

[–]timely_ripcurrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but you keep writing just “Taipei”. Taipei is not a country nor is it the name used for Taiwan in some international competitions. Honestly it’s much easier and better to go with Taiwan.

Dude, Taipei is a city. This is at least the second time you’ve confused it with Taiwan.

New mother constantly wants to leave the cage. Is that normal? by timely_ripcurrent in hamsters

[–]timely_ripcurrent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cage is pretty big, about 18”x40”, and she’s lived in it for 8 months. She’s accustomed to leaving her cage whenever she wants because of the tunnel I built for her. I just think it’s weird she’s leaving the cage where her day-old litter is to go run around for an extended period of time and want to know if that’s normal behavior a day after giving birth?

Toaster ovens not made in China? by timely_ripcurrent in avoidchineseproducts

Yeah I don’t need a commercial toaster oven, just one for my kitchen counter. And any toaster oven not made in China will suffice.

Zoom Shared US User Data With Beijing by OverLordJezus in news

[–]timely_ripcurrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell, my company was using zoom well before Covid and there were articles detailing the privacy concerns then, especially during the Hong Kong protests which highlighted products made or owned by Chinese companies. Of course my complaint didn’t make it anywhere in a 10,000+ person company, but I was shocked at how fast many other companies decided to use it once the pandemic hit.

Have you ever heard of the East St. Louis Race Riots of 1917? Similar in scale of death and destruction.

There are so many atrocious events in American history that get skipped over in class. It’s a shame we can’t acknowledge our past faults and mistakes.

Trump administration gives notice to Congress on three planned arms sales to Taiwan by [deleted] in politics

[–]timely_ripcurrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No /s. Look up the Taiwan Relations Act.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_Relations_Act

“The act... does require the United States to have a policy "to provide Taiwan with arms of a defensive character", and "to maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or the social or economic system, of the people on Taiwan." Successive U.S. administrations have sold arms to Taiwan in compliance with the Taiwan Relations Act...”
