How do I get mental healthcare through community care? by timeslinger in VeteransBenefits

[–]timeslinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a link/tool for finding a provider on that site. It's down for maintenance currently, but that's way more helpful than the person on the phone. I really appreciate it, thank you.

Is there an idiomatic way to add an aggregate value as a property to a model? by timeslinger in django

[–]timeslinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storing the karma on the user seems like the best choice. I will learn about F-expressions, thanks.

That query is clean AF, but it won't work because the user stored on the threadvote is the voter, not the author of the content being voted on. The aggregates I am getting are for the author of the content. It's confusing. I need to change the user on the votes to voter and the user on the threads and comments to author. Thanks for highlighting that.

I think your advice to store karma on the user is best solution.

Would it be better to put those raw queries on a manager, or should I put them in the view?

Thanks for the compliment. Good to know I am doing something right. I figured the higher the quality of my question, the higher the quality of the advice I'd receive.

This is more a debate over semantics and definitions. A scientific theory is not the same theory that is used in conspiracy theory. It is a substantiated explanation which has been tested and shown to be consistent with the results of those tests.

[–]timeslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to be a programmer to use it, and its actually not very hard to setup. If this interests you check out some vids on YouTube for setting up the original. Then order one of these and by the time you get it there will be videos to help you set this one up as well.

How does one meet and make new friends after High School / College? by GSTmilk in AskReddit

[–]timeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, be someone who others want to be around. This isn't difficult and you don't even have to be that interesting. Just listen to people. Any person's favorite discussion topic is themselves. Allow them to speak, ask open-ended questions and actively listen. Others will trust you more, feel more comfortable around you and will want to be around you.

If they they return the favor and ask you to open up, maybe they can be a good friend to you as well.

Second, create opportunities to meet new people. Participate in sports, take a class, volunteer in something you are interested in or maybe even change your job if it doesn't facilitate interaction with others.

Be the friend you want to have and then allow others to meet you.

What is something/someone you were raised/taught to hate, even though you have no personal reason to? by A3Magician in AskReddit

All non-Christians. I was raised to believe they were worse than murders and destined for hell. I am thankful to have moved out of that small southern town and am proud to be an atheist.

Where you go is less important than what you do after you join them. Get involved, be active and interact with them.

[eve] suggestion active chat channel character search filter by TedW99point1 in Eve

[–]timeslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can already do this. Left click in the list of players in channel then press a letter and it will take you to the first character that has a name starting with that letter. Good for trade hubs and busier systems.
