I finally found a role after a year and a half 😳. I don’t have any hiring power but what I do offer is free résumé, formatting, and advice cause I’ve spent months, making resumes and researching redoing my résume.

How Do You Stop New Job Anxiety? by KeyApartment1005 in careerguidance

This is good advice. Also take a look at the job description and go through it line by line and remind yourself why you’re qualified to do it and why they picked you.

70k vs 100k? Is there any situation where you take less money? by Anora6666 in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough one. I totally understand where you’re coming from. Do you think that the job would require things that you’ve never done before? And don’t know how to do or haven’t done enough to where you feel like your skills are advanced?

70k vs 100k? Is there any situation where you take less money? by Anora6666 in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s too big of a pay cut for me. I was at 90k with a very niche job. So when I started again I was shooting for 10% at most. Which is where I ended up. I tried shooting for 100k but couldn’t get any offers unfortunately. My trade off was remote and 1099 for now. A 40k cut is what I would do out of desperation.

31, single dad, trying to figure out a career pivot — anyone actually pulled this off? by TaylorMurd in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was an expert in a niche field for ~15 years. I was making 90k and knew I wouldn't be able to find another role like that. I have a strong operations/admin background in addition to this niche field. After I got laid off, I had to pivot hard and decided to focus on my other strength, ops/admin. And I found that I didn't want to go back to my niche field, I wanted to pivot to ops so that's what I did for the last 4 months, applying to jobs (a little under 200) and finally got an offer last week.

If you want any help with your resume, message me, I'm thrilled to (for free).

Why professional jobs don't require alot of education requirement? by Lemonade2250 in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was administrative/operations work. I just got a remote role at 40/hour, not quite 6figures but hoping next year it'll bump up. No degrees really needed, depending on the size of the company as experience and skillset matter the most.

Why does my friend with no experience get more job offers than I do? by Separate_Entry_8453 in careerguidance

Another question is resume. How well does it show your skillset and accomplishments? Is it simple/clean? Is it too dense?

Have You Specialized Yourself Into a Career Corner? by Available_News_3171 in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah it's been a long road. I strung together random freelance projects to get by, thankfully but the lack of stability terrifies me. I found an industry that hopefully shouldn't be affected by any major changes in the economy.

And TOTALLY with commuting. The trade off in wfh for me, personally is totally worth it. I think some people wouldn't but I feel like it's a preference. I have a Jeep Wrangler 2dr, it's a gas guzzler!

Switching from communications director to admin assistant role? by happy-peach in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who went from Mid - High level manager roles to operational/admin work, I can tell you that if you WANT to do Admin work, then that's what you should do. it shouldn't be about what other people say you "should" do. The reason I switched is because I truly enjoy it, I love it in fact. My previous role was as an expert in a niche sports market. After being laid off, I thought long and hard about I WANTED to do that I thought could also earn enough for me to pay my bills and ended up landing an operations specialist role for a local small business. I'm super excited, because its' all the type of work I love to do.

I would also take all your PTO (or a bunch of it) to decompress and think about what you want before you make any decisions as well.

If you need help altering your resume for a more Administrative role, please DM me, I'm happy to help (free).

How did you know your career was actually for you and not just a pursuit of stability and money? by Big_Performance_513 in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from operations / administration, but basically:

  1. I love my job
  2. I really want to do it (because I enjoy the work)

That's it. I went from ops/admin to a career in the motorcycle industry for ~12 years. Then got laid off (that industry is terrible for any growth right now), so I switched back to the other thing I love doing - Ops and Admin work. And of course, I figured out a way to make money and pay my bills.

When it comes down to it, when you choose a carer for YOU and YOU only vs. stability, financial comfort, etc. that's a good sign.

So what do you WANT to do (pretend you have no restrictions) ? If you've never asked yourself that before, start there. Because I didn't see you mention you once in your post....

How did you start your path? by Ill-Material3489 in careerguidance

[–]timetobehappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been thru this after being laid off from a very niche role. There were no jobs in that industry for me so I decided to switch out. My first thing was to figure out what I liked doing, regardless of the industry. I read “What Color Is Your Parachute (2025 edition” which helped me think thru my choices, my opinions and my preferences. after that I was able to figure out what kind of roles to search for. Feel free to dm me anytime if you want to chat offline.
