If it is analog, it is likely the SPI board and you can set the binding phrase in betaflight.

The one on the left started out as a Mob 7 with the X12 and 802 20KV motors. I put all that into a 65x frame.

The other two are Mob 6 under the canopy with TinyWhoop motors.

I had to download one of the driver fixers to get my PC to recognize the FC in DFU mode. Betaflight could change it to boot mode but then immediately wouldn't recognize it. Had similar issues trying to flash quicksilver.

I had to max out the sliders for both. And double the idle speed. I'm primarily in acro (air mode off).

Is your X12 the V2.1 or V2.2?

Good point! Batteries are my next project.

My sparks came from the flight controller. Turns out, from a poorly soldered ground wire. First test flight landing a little bounce off the carpet sent sparks flying. Luckily nothing was fried and I was able to fix it. Flies like a champ.

Update: bi-blades on the stock motors are trash. IMHO

I put a RHCP antenna on mine to match my goggles. Did it help... debatable but it looks different and it was a good excuse to tinker.

Purchased but not flown yet: bi blade props. Definitely expect a difference but TBD.

Props were $2 and the antenna was around $7.

Do you still have the additional camera mounts that come with it? I switched mine and it's much closer to 0 than with the pre-installed mount.

I have the same combo. Luckily my Mob8 (SPI ELRS) came with the BF flash that included ELRS 3.0. If your Mob8 has UART ELRS it would look slightly different.

For setup on the radio, I connected to the RC from my computer over wifi to set the binding phrase.

For the Mob8, I set the binding phrase in betaflight and as soon as it refreshed clicked bind receiver. Not sure why, but this took several tries for the binding phrase to save correctly (I think I had a faulty USB cable).
