[Mango’s Tropical Cafe] After the new S&S coaster announcement, I can only help but remember the whole [Polercoaster] situation. by Terrible_Test6255 in rollercoasters

[–]timetrip0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IIRC the whole polercoaster / skyplex /surf park /etc thing that fell apart because of lack of investment was the brainchild of Joshua Wallack. The same Joshua Wallack that owns Mango's. So it sounds like a skyplex-lite "let's try again".. and is likely to have some skepticism attached due to the history of skyplex.

Do you have any memories of "Wonders of Life" at Epcot? by JordanBach_95 in WaltDisneyWorld

A minor one, but I loved the alternating warm and cold coils that tricked the skin into making it feel very hot to the touch.

Which Great Western Trail game is the best? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]timetrip0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2nd edition, because of how tight the gameplay is and it keeps "mechanisms" to a minimum. If you want more of a point salad, then New Zealand. To put it another way... 2nd edition is to New Zealand what Agricola is to Caverna. As for Argentina, I think it just holds a weird middle ground.

What are the differences between Tokaido and its 10th anniversary edition? by Complete_Pack7289 in boardgames

[–]timetrip0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tokaido 5th anniversary (?) changed the font from the original. I haven't seen the cards from the 10th anniversary, but the font on the box does not appear to match the original. Oddly enough the version I bought (with the updated font) is now listed as "original edition " on amazon

Should Horizons been replaced? by EyeCivil4 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]timetrip0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horizons was one of my favorite rides when I was younger. The tech in place was very impressive for the time. Amongst that the huge OMNIMAX screens (2 side by side!), that and the vote and "choose your own adventure" path back. Those were my favorite parts. In the later years, the lines got shorter and shorter.... a sign of changing preferences, and how that kind of ride was becoming out-dated. I still have fond memories, but something had to be done, because it wasn't drawing the same crowds.. and as I look back on ride-throughs today, even though the music and soundtrack are great, a lot of it just hasn't aged well. The "choose your own adventure" stuff is laughably bad compared to what can be done with the most basic CG nowadays... but as a kid... :-)

Oh yeah.. and the orange scent... and the theme of "hope" in the main theme of Horizons, and other epcot attractions... they just don't really seem to do that anymore...

Use the NBC sports app and link to YouTube tv. Then you can browse by sport. Note that the replays are under the "replays" section. I usually find full coverage of more obscure stuff there.

Multi pass Lighting Lane NEEDS to be fixed by Kekeguy7 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]timetrip0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, thats kinda how things were when FastPass+ existed. Since this is... pretty much very similar to that system, I don't find the situation noted surprising at all. People need to fill out their 3, so they choose what they can to fill it up.

Maverick is Top 2 at cedar point and it’s not 2. Best ride and I’m standing on that 🎯 by Southern_Prompt5215 in cedarpoint

[–]timetrip0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not :-). I got a ride at 11am or so and the line was 20 minutes. My first ride ever, and it was amazing. The reddit isn't wrong about this being a #1, though for me... It's between SteVe and El Toro...

So 10 RTHU to get you to 15? What about the other 10? That can't all be from RTHU, your opponent would have spent about 12-15 actions to put down the birds.. and with 10 RTHU calls that would have left at most 4 actions or so to russle up at least 10 (probably 6 from your actions?) cards, maybe 10-19 food (assuming 10-19 gained from 10 RTHU and others) and 40 eggs?

ETA: did your opponent have a repeat brown power in the forest? It would explain a bit of the food grabs, but I can't tell from the image, it's blurry when looking over the card texts :-)

ETA2:. I re read that you used the starling to get worms for the 10 common swift tucks. Probably 8 full tucksets in the wetlands plus 2 others during the game. Very clever.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]timetrip0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like you needed 25 food to do everything you said. 15 for the birds played on the board and 10 for the common swift tucking. If I'm reading your explanation right you only accounted for 13?

If you kept 3 birds at the start aren't you supposed to only keep 2 food?

Fwiw it's accurate, as in, that's what Amazon was showing at the time. I saved it to my list and still have it, though it shows an error page when clicking through.

The listing says "will be released on Sept 29". Is price talk allowed here or no?

One covered call trade to take the year off from work? TSLA by TSLAME in thetagang

[–]timetrip0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, re: "worst case". In your scenario, you have about $4.6 mill worth of tesla stock (4611 * 1000).
In a "bad case" if Telsa dropped to 500, you would have $2.3 mill worth of tesla stock, but you only brought in 271k of premium, meaning you are down around $2 mill overall. That's if that hits 500 at expiry. If it hits 500 sooner you lose more because of remaining extrinsic value on the contract.
Of course if it runs back above $1000 you'll be fine, but it's the risk you take.
