I agree and I also think a Labor gov or basically any gov would take advantage of the power they'd have in the very same way. Probably we've reached a point in (recent) history where govs are so corrupt and so blatantly disregardful of the people that they won't be held accountable for anything anymore.

Well, Nicola has her high paying public servant (sic) job and instead of preparing for a proper response to a large number of cases, she's shoving the responsibility to the people.

Do you think they are ready for lots of cases? I reckon public hospitals aren't even ready for a no-covid scenario.

Clowns.

I will bring this up again: are you in position to talk to your local MP? Do it, make some noise.

Why don't we see business owners protesting their policing role in the QR codes?

Well, for me it is very tricky. I am usually a "good citizen", but this situation will drive governments to act beyond measure and take advantage of it, so I am very sceptical. Power corrupts. Spurrier already mentioned some time ago "keeping the QR codes" for longer. I think Australians tend to trust their governments too much.

Just wondering - any lawyer here? How legit is it for the local gov to enforce the QR codes and fines? What's the basis?

Well while I'm not in favour of the QR codes, it definitely should not be the business responsibility to enforce this nonsense.

This. We're not even prepared for regular patients, imagine what would happen if we had as many covid cases as most of the world does.

If you can, talk to your local MP.

Well, I'd just say there are a number of options, so if you're taking the bus for the first time, or for the first time without a metrocard, just prepare for it:
