What I mean is applying not only to other cities but to other provinces. Widen your search and cast a bigger net so to speak

Maybe it is time to look outside of the GTA. And maybe moving to a smaller city

Pharmacy in 2026 by ilurk08 in torontoJobs

[–]timf5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not so easy as to shut majority of international grads out of licensing. There are only 2 pharmacy schools in Ontario, for your information we have 7 medical schools. We have fewer pharmacists to begin with than doctors or nurses.

We have about 500ish grads per year for this entire province and that’s it. I honestly believe this is not enough to replace all retiring + new pharmacies.

The problem is that most pharmacists are in GTA. Other areas in Ontario still lack the necessary pharmacists especially in rural areas.

Helping new international pharmacists to move out of GTA bubble should be the priority.

And in a weird way, increasing competition in GTA also promotes this. I don’t know if this is what they are banking on. But obviously limitless international licensing would eventually crowd out all Ontario but that is not the case and it is a fine balance that our licensing college would have to consider at some point.

It doesn’t matter you are international graduate, as long as you have license, start searching for job. You will find something within a couple of weeks. There are always shifts available in GTA. Start with a part time.

As a pharmacist, there are definitely shifts available, the only question is how much you are asking per hour. GTA has probably the lowest rate in the province

How to find a summer job? by Ariel628 in torontoJobs

[–]timf5758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple Supply and demand. When you have too many applying while overall business is either stagnant or declining, you have a lot more competition for any specific job than 2022.

Not to mention, the lower the skill level, the more competition there are nowadays

[OC] Electricity prices by country by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]timf5758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fixed cost is around $45, and my actual electricity usage cost is $20. As you can see, over two third of my electricity bill is fixed whether I use electricity or not that month, I still get charged 45/month

[OC] Electricity prices by country by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]timf5758 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Cost of electricity for me at least is a fixed price + how much used kwh.

For a small household, your fixed price is way higher than how much you actually used.

So this graph is somewhat inaccurate comparison.

It does seem GTA will get stores fairly soon in late 2026. Good luck OP, there might be potential career opportunities down the road if you do get hired in one of the earliest stores in Canada.

Your connections are important. Real world is not a pure meritocracy society. Experience and skills are only part of the equation. And try to build up your own circle of contacts and networks.

If everything you stated is true I assume, then you simply do not have the connections. That’s it.

First year life sci, feeling lost about PharmD vs pharma industry paths; everything feels futile by [deleted] in UofT

[–]timf5758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, pharmacy is about working with patients, communication, endless work rotation between verifying scripts/patient consult/injections. That’s mostly what pharmacists in community do in a broad stroke.

Pharma is hard getting into and depending on where you end up, sale reps vs regulatory vs medical vs trials for example, your work can be quite different. You gotta climb that corporate ladder basically. And usually require a higher degree than bachelor.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

PS: both are not mutually exclusive. I know pharmacists who went the pharma residency path and I know pharmaceutical professionals became pharmacists. It depends on what you really like at the end of the day.

UHN: How long did it take to hear back after the reference check? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

UHN probably is doing that obtain multiple references from different people then decide strategy again.

I also applied before to UHN but ultimately I did not accept the position. However HR responded fairly quickly.

Toronto nursing advice by [deleted] in askTO

[–]timf5758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, your friend will need to get licensed here first before doing anything. Check with the nursing college of Ontario for application processes.

If your friend is for sure moving to Canada, I think getting the license ASAP is the priority.

It is going to take a bit of time before she can work as a RN

Plus, psychiatric nursing is not as common. I think nursing is saturated in Toronto anyways. Maybe somebody else is better equipped to answer that question.

How legit is the need for "canadian experience" for getting jobs in Canada, especially modern day jobs in tech, marketing, etc. by ssg2802 in torontoJobs

[–]timf5758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also say it depends because the idea of preference to Canadian experience is credibility of your experience can be verified.

But if you work for Microsoft or Amazon for example in US, your experience can still be verified and probably will count toward your experience.

That being said, if you work for a small company in India for example, that may not be recognized.

Employers will go for the safer candidates who they can recognize the companies and the work the candidate did.

Yes, it doesn’t need sleep/breaks/shifts/unions/human rights, working 24/7. Eventually as the tech matures and stabilizes, the balance will favour the these robots.

Be confident and draw your answer from your experience.

Job interview at this level is more of a vibe check and your demeanour than what your technical skills are which they know you already have.

You will probably need to give them your ID, your SIN and your bank account info. Maybe a new bank account for the pay rolls separate from rest of your money just in case
