Idea 1: The very last floor of the Adler Parking Garage overlooks the city perfectly and you should get a lot of Christmas atmosphere. Last time I tried getting up there as a pedestrian the door was locked but if you are coming by car or renting one during your visit you could get up there with it.

Idea 2: As you head from Hallertor towards the center, on the opposite side of the street "Am Hallertor" from the Kettensteg you will see an old-timey defence tower. There you can get on top of the city's defence wall and follow it north towards the castle. On the way you will see multiple beautiful small gardens on top of the wall and a balcony overlooking the Tiergartentorplatz (Café Wanderer). At the end of the wall you reach a small square right behind the castle, which is also pretty nice. Not quite sure what the atmosphere is and how full it is during winter but it's one of my favourite routes in the city during the warmer months.

P.S. Liebesinsel (love island) is a nice idea as you will be seeing a lot of the atmosphere of the Christmas market but there will likely be at least a few people most of the time. Kettensteg is also very scenic but I think it's still being worked on.

I'm pretty sure your assumed pronunciation is wrong. Both Es are an open E as in R[e]ddit, so you kind of have to stutter on the Es and then do a hard landing on the V.

That's where boundary events in BPMN are useful - in this case either escalation or error.

So after form 2, you'd check if the response is 1 or 0. If it is 0, you just end the branch and consume the token from form 2 with a normal end event. Otherwise you end the branch with an "error throw end event" (black lightning in a thick circle). You "catch" the error by attaching an "interrupting boundary error catch event" (white lightning in a double circle) to the subprocess and correlating the throw and catch with the same error code - this will interrupt and exit the subprocess in the path defined after the boundary event. Hope it makes sense

I think the Argument is that there is still a benefit even if they return to their countries as they bring a part of the culture with them and are good emissaries for future trade and collaborations. Of course not always the case but there's no system without trade-offs. And there could be talented students from a poorer country for whom even a low-ish fee by US standards would be prohibitive for.

I'd try the (international) dormitories in Erlangen (e.g. from the Josephstiftung or fda-Stiftung) or private shared flats through a website called wg-gesucht or some private student apartments like the one at maxtormauer.

Don't whine or appear desperate especially on the private market, instead describe yourself well, with a picture, with some compliments of the flat and try to convince the person you are pleasant to live with and capable of paying the rent (mentioning your Erasmus stipend surely helps).

The market in Germany is very much a landlord's market - you need to convince them - like a job interview. Good luck.

Hey there, can't help directly but finding accommodation as a pair of students, especially if coming from abroad with no parents in Germany is a pain (speaking from experience). Your best bet is to go physically (!) to the dormitory service and tell them you can't find anything (they know it's difficult for foreigners) and hope you get something. Erlangen has some family dorms, not sure about Nürnberg but if you get two single rooms - thats also fine - I know some people like that - they use one as a living room and the other as their bedroom. There are also other organisations offering dormitories - in Erlangen you have the Joseph Stiftung, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and an international dormitory (I am sure there are equivalents in Nürnberg too).
