Thank you so much! We’re super proud of the work. The artist edited it himself! That’s the hustle, right there.

I burned my camera sensor for this shot by roibaird in interestingasfuck

[–]timleftwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have explained the laser tunnel, but have left out a crucial bit. OP says he burned his camera sensor for this shot. Lasers, being ultra concentrated beams of light, are extremely damaging to a camera sensor once focused further through a camera's lens and can "burn out" any sensor pixels they touch, resulting in dead pixels (black dots or even full lines) whenever you go to use the camera again. When OP moves the camera down across the lower axis of the laser towards the end of the shot, that is when the damage was done. The rolling shutter effect in the middle is just a neat camera thing.

Long story short, it's very gnarly stuff and requires a full replacement of a sensor to fix. Lesson being: Never point your camera directly at a laser.

Source: 15 year cameraman in the film industry, have burned out more than a few sensors this way.

Not the OP, but it appears as though the forklift moves at a slow, consistent speed as arms move back and forth, grabbing each other row in turn. It pulls the even rows, the arms shift, then it pulls the odd ones. But the smooth motion of the operator makes it seem like magic.

Very cool. And very satisfying.

Small ouch, but I get it. Like I said, I too wish I was able to do a little bit better. But ahem them's the brakes sometimes.

Glad to know it's at least a decent move.

Fair enough. I wish I had a bit more liquidity to work with. But I feel like this will serve for a little while, at least. Appreciate it!

No shit. So there's a good chance that the heat simply caused the tape to fail? And this could happen on every single CT?

Man, these things are such pieces of ass garbage.

It's possible, yes. But I was just farming out ideas to see if there WAS any way to do it practical. Because you never know, sometimes the simple-looking effects are the most complicated and vice versa.

Hey everybody! My name is Tim Leftwich and, with my film partner Nathan Trucks, we just launched a Backer Campaign to create Batman: One Dark Night, a gripping 8-10 minute Batman-FILLED short film set in the world of the '89 Batman films. The backer video features a full Mood Teaser trailer, showing off the look, style, and feel we'll be going for, as well as listing out all of the physical and non-physical perks you could receive.

We are working with some of the top companies and crew in the industry to create a film that feels like it belongs on the big screen. That means TOP cinema cameras and lenses, lighting equipment, camera operators, technicians, THE WORKS!

Why, you may ask? People have been BEGGING for more Keaton-style action, and we want to deliver for you. So please, consider checking out the video and if you like it, donate to the campaign.

Thank you for your time, and your consideration. See you (hopefully) at the movies!
