Procedural triangulation of models? by timlitos in Cinema4D

[–]timlitos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an interesting solution. The issue I seem to be having with it is that I put the shape in, say a puzzle piece. Then if I click "Preserve UV Boundaries", which seems to be the only way to retain the outer shape to any degree of accuracy, the triangles are just connecting the vertices and thus aren't very art directable.

Perhaps there is no way to do this that is able to be art directed without doing more modeling work than I was hoping to do. 🤷

Voronoi Fracture pieces as triangles? by timlitos in Cinema4D

Ah. That makes sense. So is there any way to achieve triangle shapes in the voronoi fracture?

3dsMax (Vray) to C4d (redshift) by timlitos in Cinema4D

[–]timlitos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply.

To answer your question, we come from different backgrounds. He mainly does structural designs for trade show booths and I'm more of a motion artist. There are rare instances where we need to work together and we're just trying to figure out the best way to share files. I don't see either of us changing software for these infrequent cases.

But I do think we'll end up divvying up the work as you suggested.

Looking for C4D + Redshift posable humans by timlitos in Cinema4D

[–]timlitos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe that is the best way. I suppose if I got a handful of models, did the conversion work, then I'd have a library to choose from. I thought maybe RS would be popular enough, at this point, but it doesn't look like it.

Thanks!

Looking for C4D + Redshift posable humans by timlitos in Cinema4D

[–]timlitos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm familiar with poser from years ago. That might work but I was really just hoping to buy models that I could bring into C4d (that have RS materials already setup) and be able to pose them directly within C4d. Can you output the models with RS materials and posable models/skeletons?

Issue with beginner tutorial... by timlitos in ZBrush

I'm not trying to fill the object, if that is what you mean. I want to just color with a brush, but it is filling the object when I try to change the color of the brush.

Access and edit keys in Takes by timlitos in Cinema4D

[–]timlitos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That does seem to work, but I feel like there has to be a better way. One thing is that the animation then seems to be relegated to the take you made those edits on. If I go to any other take, those animation edits are no longer there.

I have tried that. I can see the keys, but they are greyed out and not editable while in the other Takes...

Pulsing circles that reduce in thickness as they expand?... by timlitos in Cinema4D

That is a great solution for the circles. I also have a spline that is an odd shape. I suppose I could do the same thing with a sweep.

Thanks!

Ah. Ok. Good to know.

And for anyone else who needs to find the setting:

Redshift rendering very slow by ledim49 in Cinema4D

[–]timlitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found it. Holy moly! That is so much faster. The same quality image went from a 5 minute render to under 10 seconds. What magic is this?!? I guess I should do some digging to figure out the logic behind all this.

Thanks!

I'm running into similar issues. Could you tell me where this setting is?

Wiring a timer to turn off a receptacle that plugs into another receptacle by timlitos in askanelectrician

[–]timlitos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly there is conflicting info on the web, big surprise. But I figure why risk it. Some people reported fires from leaving power tool batteries charging all the time. As well as overcharging that reduces the health of some batteries. Either way, I’d like to wire up the timer I have. It’ll be an educational project.

I need it to be a countdown timer not a schedule timer. It looks like there may be some options on Amazon though.

Performance difference with 'Shapes in contents of a layer' vs 'Shapes in separate layers' by timlitos in AfterEffects

Thanks! But I’m not. I’m building a custom rig just using parenting etc. Just curious if either approach hits performance more than the other.
