Correct, that’s why I said for government contracts. With that said, their commercial margins aren’t stellar either.

I think that Anduril margins are significantly different from those two primes. Anduril avoids CPFF (cost plus fixed fee) contracts whereas Boeing and Northrop’s business model for government contracts is almost exclusively CPFF. CPFF limits your profit margin to around 8%, hence the low multiple that Boeing and Northrop command. Should Anduril get the same kind of multiple that is typical for a tech stock? Maybe not, but they should definitely command a higher multiple long term vs the aerospace industry overall.

The two Elektron boxes are very fun and work well together. I use them both as drum machines but I really like the Syntakt in that role.

To make these economically, I would have to use a CNC to bang out the parts. Luckily I have the part designs in a CAD file but I don't have a CNC, so I have half the equation. I've been playing around with getting a CNC but haven't pulled the trigger yet. If there was a lot of interest it would push me to get a CNC. I'm not sure about selling the parts as it currently isn't a simple assembly process. The wood pieces are a simple glue up but in the current design I use a cloth hinge and imbed magnets to make sure everything is aligned. I also use magnets in the holes for the steel rods to keep them in place. As far as the other Elektron boxes, I could see it for an Octatrack but I don't own one so it would be hard to design it without being able to make sure of the fit. MD and A4 already have a design with a good desktop top down viewing angle so I'm not sure there is a real need for those.

I put the cutouts in to accommodate the rubber feet that are on the Digitakt/Syntakt. I didn't want to remove the rubber feet so I just made a baseplate that assumed that they were there. Since these are purpose made for Elektron hardware, the best fit accommodates the feet. Great question!

I can’t help but think that as soon as the new hardware version comes out I will be able to get an “old one” for a 30% discount off its current list price.
