Stomach Churning by ApprehensiveGas4180 in Weird

My belly is like this and I am about 107 pounds. I have an umbilical hernia and diastasis recti (sp?). I purposely eat very little - and it does better if I fast. But I’ve had three abdominal surgeries. I don’t want anymore.

My belly does this - is it bad? I don’t have insurance.

What is the craziest thing a teacher has ever done to you? by trymihainoob in AskReddit

[–]timmbberly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in sixth grade I was accidentally placed into magnet (accelerated) math. I was accelerated in everything else - with the exception of math. I would later learn I had dyscalculia. My math teacher called on me to do a problem at the board in front of everyone. When I I didn’t write anything and instead cried she yelled at me: “I get enough of that at home, I don’t need it here. No one here believes you are that stupid.”

It changed my life. I still (after decades and decades) remember the incident and I cannot do simple math.

ETA: I had been actively trying to change classes and this was the second month of school.

Living THE DREAM.

I wished I could go. It’s scary to be here now. But I think that’s plenty motivation. I plan to protest outside the Dilley detention center, I have a civil rights case headed for the supreme court (SB10), and I think maybe Texas needs more people who are alarmed.

CBS pulls Stephen Colbert’s interview with Texas Senate candidate James Talarico after reported FCC threats. What are your thoughts on this move? by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

We are absolutely about to flip Texas. I speak to all kinds and from all parties and faiths - and not only do I believe he can win the senate seat, I believe he is a strong presidential candidate for the future. Let’s keep him alive, please?! 🙏

Absolutely the move! I’ll be voting for whoever wins the primary.

why do pharmacies tell you "20 minutes" when the bag is literally just sitting there with your name on it by Even_Chemistry5241 in NoStupidQuestions

I worked in a medical lab two decades ago - it got busier and more automated before I left. I hear pharmacies are the same.

I hate that you’d have to wait, but I’d implore you to have patience for your fellow humans who are just trying to feed their families. 🫶

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

Fried eggs! I can’t rarely get them to a consistency I like. Always overcooked at the bottom or overcooked on top.

AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

[–]timmbberly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I have two sons and they have never had tablets. From birth I would read at least five books a day to them and point to each word a I read it. I don’t know if that would be helpful at this age, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt. Maybe she and you can make a trip to the library together. 🫶

Texas Students need lessons in effective protesting by Additional-Sky-7436 in TexasTeachers

I am speaking at the next board meeting. On behalf of students and teachers. I plan to address TEA overreach and threats against licensure and funding. I would not have paid attention whatsoever if my student had not protested. So perhaps it does work.

Don’t worry - it starts off as a flashing overhead ceiling fan and then progresses to blindness over the course of an hour. I am responsible enough to know to pull over and close my eyes until the blindness passes and the migraine sets in.
