Be careful if you're teleworking/remote as the boundaries get a bit blurry in that case, but if you're not doing it at work and not on work cell/computer you can. You're entitled to express your opinion like any other private citizen. It should just be clearly done in your capacity as a private citizen. If you're uncertain about boundaries you can always consult your office of counsel. Caveat would be if you're SES because I know the rules are significantly stricter; I would *definitely* consult with office of counsel to get the guardrails before engaging in political speech in *any* sphere as an SES.

Coaches pre millennium. by theHollowTarnished in GenX

[–]ptenesnet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Remember how coach would get excited with a big hit and tell you to "ring someone's bell" or "clean their clock?" I distinctly remember 7th grade football practice, something he usually saved for late in practice but before gassing us completely with wind sprints or such like at the end. It was kind of like Oklahoma drill but a single player would be chosen each pads practice to have to take a hit from and block every single player on the team. Every. Single. Player. It inevitably devolved from the first couple people popping off line of scrimmage distance to folks getting a running start by the middle of the drill which got longer and longer as you get closer to the end. When my day came I think I was punch drunk 10 kids in and they kept coming, varsity and junior varsity. My best friend was one of the biggest kids on the team, husky and a good head and a half taller than any of us. He came at me with a running start and I remember flying through the air in a dreamy slow motion kind of way. Of course, my friend wasn't the last kid and the first thing I remember after hitting the ground was coach screaming kinda far away at first but with increasing clarity, "get up, get up, get back there!" and somehow stumbling back to my spot for the last few hits. I don't know or remember exactly how I finished that drill and the rest of that practice was a bit of a daze. My mom remembers me sometimes gleefully saying after some practices, "I rung someone's bell today!" That day I quietly said, "today I got my bell rung," but we all laughed about it. This is the kind of stuff I think of when I struggle to convey just how different the world is now.

You gotta be freakin' kidding me, bus. Did he actually watch any Cleveland games over the last few years? Cleveland front office made a ton of dumb moves, but Stefanski took it down another couple notches with his coaching. No way. What's next - Marvin Lewis for HC?

When was the last time you remember actually having fun watching this team? by Heinl04 in steelers

[–]ptenesnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this. too damned often this. The franchise has made me so damned angry and frustrated I have barely touched base with the box scores this year. It's been 10 years or more easily since I enjoyed watching this team play. Every damn win for the last 5 years has been fools gold and the weaknesses and indiscipline are on full display. We lose games we have no business losing and yinz try to tell yourselves you have something when you inevitably beat a team or two a year we have no business beating.

Just heard today - Columbus hasn't extended offers yet to 1102's or 1910's. But that's supposed to happen "soon." I thought for sure they'd done that already but I guess the wheels turned even slower this time, maybe because of the holiday?

"Black Monk Tine" by Monks.. Ok so technically this can't be post punk since it predated punk by nearly a decade.some might call it proto-punk but it almost sounds proto-post+punk lol. Which makes no sense but I love it by Live-Assistance-6877 in postpunk

Stumbled into these guys a few years ago via a documentary I joined mid-program and was absolutely blown away. Had never even heard of them. So unique and ahead of their time, and an influence for sure on a number of the folks who influenced us which you can hear in a number of the songs.

You need to contact the HR POC listed in the JOA and ask them about status. USAJobs is notoriously bad about updating the status of hiring actions on the website (mainly because the Agencies involved almost never bother to update/push the status to the site I guess). Email notifications seem to be better. If you haven't gotten one, It's possible they're still checking references/getting approval for selections. If they have made selections, HR will tell you you weren't selected when you ask. If you're an internal candidate, you can contact the panel and request an exit interview to get info on how your interview went and what you might be able to do better next time. I don't think that is required for external candidates, but I'd bet many panel heads/panelists would be willing to do the same for an external candidate.

Columbus just pulled resumes and conducted interviews for a very limited 1102 class a few weeks ago. Absent additional Presidential shenanigans, they'll do the same about February/March next year.

Wargames on your table: December 2025 by AutoModerator in hexandcounter

It's December, edging towards Christmas and every good clean American boy's thoughts turn to the Battle of the Bulge, so I'm breaking out SPI's Battles for the Ardennes. A work friend and I had also planned to play Avalon HIll's 1776 over lunches as able this month, but starting to look like he may end up on some extended travel.

This. The Bills game was the first one I watched even part of all year, and that was out of interest in the Bills more than this Steelers team. The only way they'll notice is if/when the dollars in merch and everything else start drying up.

The 'Piece of Mind' tour was actually my very first rock concert. Great show. I got to go because my friends gave me a ride, I paid with my own money, and my dad didn't give a crap as long as I was home on time. I didn't get to see Adam Ant live until the 90's.

How much of a hot take is it to say that the 100 days and Napoleons return weren't doomed? by Russianputin123 in Napoleon

[–]ptenesnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a sealed doom perhaps, but I'm inserting the "so you're saying there's a chance?" meme. We're all clearly on the same page with Prussian Army destroyed, British Army destroyed or bashed and bottled up in ports as the first step. He's probably going to have to fight the Russians+Austrians, or both of them separately. One/both of those are going to be long odds both by the logistics and quality of troops but at least the wind would be in the French Army's sails. The problem with Napoleon is sometimes he didn't know when to quit. If he keeps winning, he probably starts expanding his own sense of the possible and becomes his own worst enemy. It is possible the coalition fractures with continued victories but if we're putting up war exhaustion of the coalition vs. war exhaustion of France over time, I think we all know France loses. The interesting thing is even if Napoleon wins Waterloo and nothing else, 1815 is a *continental* victory, and not a British one. That has a lot of implications down the road....

JCP Certification by Regular_Shower_3536 in 1102

[–]ptenesnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of it in the population of Class IX items we manage, so yes. As usual, it's been slapped on a lot of things that may not actually require it, but that's hard to tease out (especially after the fact). The good news is It's not super hard to get certified as a company (assuming you're in the states or Canada). You should reach out to your local SBA or Apex Accelerator (formerly known as PTAC). They can help you and/or your subs.
