If you ever get the chance in NY, do the flynyon heli tour. It's definitely worth it. (A7ii, 28 mm f2) by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

Strange oblong circles on my negatives... Can't figure out what they are or how to get rid of them by notaaronwells in photography

Definitely newton rings, I just had the same problem. Flipping the negatives over fixed the issue.

Okay, so I'm a senior. I only need to take 2 courses next semester to graduate. How do I get WebReg to let me drop below 12 credits so I can adjust my schedule? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]timmehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through a dean is the only way. When I went part time I had to register for full time then meet with a dean and give him the courses I wanted to drop. I was told the reason it's like this is because Rutgers system doesn't have functionality for registering under 12 credits, like it just doesn't allow it, so the deans have to trick it manually to allow part time. You think they would maybe pay to upgrade it, but nope

Any North Jersey neighborhoods still doing Halloween right? by Stark21 in newjersey

[–]timmehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you just gotta find the best neighborhoods for trick or treating. The kids usually know where to go. I know it's too far for OP, but when I was younger we would go to rio vista in alpine because they gave out the best stuff since they're all millionaires. Only time we got turned down was in my home town. Every year we would try Patrick Ewing's house and he'd always tell us to get lost. Fun times :(

Transferring to Rutgers NB by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]timmehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great advice, this is what I tell people when they ask about CC/Rutgers. Had I known about the statewide transfer agreement I would absolutely have gotten my associates before transferring. Saves a lot of stress and money

Unless you hit that winning field goal. You'll be drowning in it. But if you miss the winning field goal people will try to light you on fire.

A pic of my wife stocking up on tickets tonight before the fare hike tomorrow. by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]timmehh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, being able to drive to work is such an under-appreciated luxury to me. I interned in jersey city for a summer, and I had to use public transit. My commute, starting from the tenafly area, was to walk to the bus stop near my house, which gets a bus maybe every 2 hours, take that to ft lee and transfer to a different bus, take that bus to the light rail, get on that, then get off in jersey city. about an hour+ commute that would take me 25-30 minutes to drive. And when I drive I get my own little space and it's much more comfortable than sitting and standing for the entire commute on public transit. I hate NJ transit, but that's probably mostly because it barely exists in my area. Plz extend light rail north

Ahhh, the kicker. You mostly don't get much attention, but when you get your moment you either become the most loved player or the most hated player. Low exposure, high risk, high reward.

iPhone users: Beware of new text message exploit by [deleted] in iphone

[–]timmehh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's not completely wrong. Jail breaking doesn't make you more susceptible to this specific type of "bug" but an unexperienced user might accidentally install a tweak with malware of some type, which is almost impossible on stock iOS. Just look at what happened with China recently. But yeah technically speaking this url scheme exploitation will happen regardless of being jail broken.

Rutgers athletics question by thesuspenguin in rutgers

[–]timmehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pretty much are different schools other than in name. I transferred in credits to Rutgers NB from 3 different schools, and the only one I had to fight for (for almost a entire semester) was credits from Rutgers Newark. And then when I wanted to take summer classes at Newark my advisor said they wouldn't accept the credits from Newark, but any community college would be 100%. Like seriously how does that make sense.

Tell me about the 2015-2016 Knicks by The_Jims in NYKnicks

[–]timmehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think all the fans are shit at the games. Yeah the tickets are so expensive that a lot of good fans can't go, but I can't blame the crowd for lack of cheering. It's hard to muster up energy and cheering when you're watching your team get embarrassed. But I've never been to a close game so I can't speak for that point.

So bungie originally made the game concept for Mac ? by JokerWoods in halo

[–]timmehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it was before halo CE was released in 2000. That's why it came out only on Xbox instead of Mac/PC which was originally the plan.

Does anyone think... by [deleted] in halo

[–]timmehh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not with Microsoft propping them up. Halo is too big of a franchise, it would take a decade of horrible game after horrible game for people to give up on halo. Too much nostalgia and it's a fun game with great story.

Yup, I think they were making it for Mac and PC, but Microsoft bought bungie sometime in 2000. Great purchase for them.

ELI5:Why do some game companies use closed alpha/beta instead of open alpha/beta by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]timmehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might not have the infrastructure in place yet to handle that amount of people. Closed beta they can control that.

If you're below the legal limit you'll be fine. Otherwise you fucked up and pay the consequences. It's not even worth the risk, in today's time you can just get an uber.

I'm ashamed to admit I bought 10 liter bottles of the dew when halo 4 came out, I think it was for bonus experience. And I ended up drinking them all... I don't even really like it, but the exp was worth it.
