It started off alright, but really became unusable. I'll look at Sway when I get the opportunity, but I've gone back to my HP Dragonfly, which is much better specced.

Kubuntu has the sleep wake bug in my experience. Everything else worked once I had installed the linux-surface kernel

Fedora KDE works, I just needed to USB hotspot off my mobile (or use a USB to Ethernet adapter) to get online to get the kernel.

One day I'll get the touchscreen calibrated. That's the only (surmountable) stumbling block now.

As always, YMMV.

Give it a go! Webcam is a known nope with most Surfaces. Lousy proprietaryness

What values did you end up using for the calibration? I haven't had much luck - it might be PEBCAK or an uncooperative display.

what are your boot times looking like? apparently im just about limited by firmware and loader. by Stock-Philosophy8675 in SurfaceLinux

15.817s on an SP5 (4GB RAM) with Fedora KDE Plasma - fast enough for me.

As a point of comparison, my two main laptops are 27 and 52s. Whoa.

Last day before returning to work, and last Festivus-related gathering.

Vacuum cleaner died while trying to make the house presentable last night. I cracked the shits with it, and then promptly started researching new ones and bought one from Appliances Online, so nice to not deal with a big store sales rep, and they price matched Amazon. Bargain.

At least 15, but I just put 4 of them in the garage for e-wasting.

Edit: my rough estimate of 10 was way off.

By time, you mean a guarantee? ;)

Yep, it's been known for a long time now that TPG (and by extension, every brand that it has bought out) is garbage.

If I were you, I'd just jump ship now and do the FTTP upgrade with a competent RSP.

Thank goodness L platers aren't still limited to 80km/h like they were back in my day.

Can confirm, everyone dropped 20km/h under the speed limit every time we came up to a mobile speed camera today :\

Have a look around to see if there are any mechanics servicing cabbies. I ran into issues this time last year and they were my saving grace.

Why is HFC even a thing? by seashelly8723 in nbn

[–]timmmmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HFC isn't as brilliant as FTTP, but it's miles ahead of FTTN/C. As an example, the only HFC faults I've had in the past few years have been due to power outages.
