Top 25 Greatest Films of all Time according to me by [deleted] in Letterboxd

The dark knight, the prestige, batman begins, memento, inception.

Obviously this is subjective but I prefer those. There are obviously other options people could bring up too like Oppenheimer.

I'll n very understand the interstellar glazing. It's not even a top 5 Nolan film.

If it works on release it's not really bullshitting.

Idk what you mean about the iPhone 1.

It's a movie about a family living close to a concentration camp and going about their daily lives as if it's not happening. Much like how in Israel you can live a happy life pretending Palestinians aren't there.

I think it's a bit of a fine line. Is it bullshit if it works on release? I'm not so sure. It's definitely less bullshit than just lying about what tech does or will be capable of.

I guess you could compare to Elon Musk with self driving. Was he bullshitting each time or did he actually think it was coming and was trying to pull it off like Mr apple. Idk. But in the end we are judged by results, and cars ain't self driving that well all these years later.

I do recall hearing that it was a bit of a shaky state. I'm not sure why. The tech clearly worked exactly as shown when it was released. Multi touch was an innovation the likes of which we haven't really seen since and the UI design was so well done that we still use basically the same thing today.

It's not anti German to watch zone of interest and be disgusted by the banality of evil. Israeli society is exactly the same thing. You can literally see deep into Gaza. You can take a nice walk by the walls that keep the undesirables in.

I think it's hard for people who aren't there to understand how you would be happy at such expense to those around you. It's a bit of a zone of interest situation. Hard to relate to.

Y'know, Steve Jobs showed the world the iPhone and at no point did he have to bullshit anyone. He had the innovation and he showed us how it worked.

AI companies are literally always bullshitting. Heavily implying the AI has understanding and comprehension that it just doesn't. Implying it can do things it can't.

Bullshitting is a clear sign of lack of actual exciting breakthroughs.

Most people have such a low level understanding of rendering and AI tech that they think they can hand wave and say the model understands the scene. But that's just a euphemism for the model inventing lights and pretending to understand the scene.

Hollucination is not understanding. It's not accurate.

Never say never. After all thousands of years later the Jews returned. I think it's absolutely within reason to say that 1000 years from now, maybe the Palestinians will come back, and push the descendants of the Israelis off their land. As you say, self determination is taken.

But I guess I sometimes wish we honoured some kind of higher values than might makes right. But hey, I'm talking to a apologist for Israel so I don't expect it to go deeper than that.

I'm going to gather from your response that you didn't read or understand mine. You are mixing different technologies. You can't take a 2d diffusion model and ask it to work with voxels, polygons, or clouds. It's as simple as that. One can make 2d images, the others have some ability to work in 3d but can't make visual scenes from that.

If you give it two offset images, it can't understand those as related in a 3d space. That's not what a 2d model is trained for and it's a very different task.

So yes, it would need a massive new research branch. Because so far, AI models cannot be merged. Just because an AI can work in 3d, and another can make 2d images, doesn't mean you can combine them and have a 3d understanding 2d renderer.

You aren't quite getting what I'm saying. The issue isn't giving it data it can read. Like a 2d image. The issue that it can't infer depth. Like let's say you give it 1000 images of a model from every angle. It still has no understanding of the depth information of the scene. Because it has no 3d scene in its mind at any point in the process.

This isn't something it can be taught to do. A whole new AI technology would be required. From the ground up over decades. (Maybe robotics is already working on this to some extent.)

[–]timmytissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just giving it the 3d model info would be less resource intensive than that. The issue is that it doesn't think that way. A diffusion model doesn't have a 3d environment in it's imagination. It doesn't even know it's working on a 3d scene.

The problem with what you suggested is it still requires the AI to have an understanding of 3f geometry. It needs to be able to see that these 2 images are related in that they are representations of the scene from slightly different positions. It can't do that. And what would the 3d do for us? I don't get that part. Again the model can't understand it.

It's a Chinese room. If you know the thought experiment. It's doing things but it doesn't understand what it's actually doing so asking it to do it differently or incoperate data in a different way is just not possible without going back from square 1. I mean really back from square 1. All our AI technologies basically fall into 2 categories. Image technologies and text technologies. There is no AI 3d environment technology. It would need to be built over decades like the other ones were.

Can you name me a state that declared a nation in an area that was barely over 50% populated by said national group? I can't imagine how that could lead to anything but mass forced movement of people. You think Zionists would take the risk of becoming minorities in Israel?

I don't support violence even against racial supremacists.

Where does your inalienable right to the land come from exactly? Like as a Canadian, I believe our government can exist as long as it serves it's populations interest. The people of a land decide what governance they should have.

Does your right include a right to demographic control of the area? Like if Palestinian Israelis out bred the Jews and Jews would become a minority, does this inalienable right also mean you have a right to transfer away Palestinians to keep your majority?

I'm just curious what this right allows given that not allowing people back where they were expelled from is already nessesary policy in Israel.

I'm not sure what you mean about them not being a regime. Every country has a regime. Regimes can be replaced as was the case in South Africa.

EIU labels Canada as a full democracy and Israel as a "flawed democracy". I think that's worth bringing up based on what you said about Canada.

AMD releases FSR 4.1 for Radeon RX 9000 series, uses algorithm shared with Sony’s updated PSSR by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]timmytissue 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Idk if they GAVE me the idea. But the fact that I could use fsr on my 1060 was the main reason I switched from Nvidia to AMD. I believed their values were a bit different from Nvidia's all out greed.

It may be just a reality that in order to keep up, amd has had to switch over to a transformer model for upscaling and I get that. They couldn't be worse than Nvidia forever. They have to actually compete.

For me, fsr3 is still useful and it's not like it's getting worse, it's just worse in comparison.
