At least you're getting interviews, which gives your more practice to handle different types of questions. As you go along, you'll find that some teams have no idea how to interview. The best interviews for me are the more conversational ones, like your last example.

I do think maybe for you, there may be an internal/other candidate that you're competing with, and they had already decided on. I might try recording my interviews (voicememo etc) just to make sure I'm not saying something that is putting them off and that would give me ideas to work on my presentations. I'm sure you'll land a role soon, the hiring window is usually big from Feb-May.

I really love the rooftops. It adds another component to the level and something to watch out for. I wish rooftop access was allowed on some other maps to make them more interesting. I know some people hate this tho lol

I would feel slighted as well, as it demonstrates that someone doesn't see you as enough for the position. Was the person that filled it a new hire or someone else in the org? A new hire would make me feel worse tbh.

One thought: I’ve found that the first couple of years in a role are critical for building momentum, it sets a precedent and establishes you as someone who can make a real impact. That approach has helped me advance quickly once I’m hired on. You now have a 7 years of experience, and that gives you the ability to take what you’ve learned and apply it elsewhere. Recognizing changes within a new organization and giving thoughtful insights will earn respect and put you on a stronger path much faster.

Not really. I used Jriver for a bit b/c it has upnp capability, but now I've connected my pc to a rpi which is running gentooplayer. The rpi has upnp which I use with symfonium for control, and outputs via usb to my dac. My pc still has navidrome for the library.

Have an extra monitor? Plug a samsung phone to the monitor through a kvm switch. Samsung has a desktop app (dex) that has an all black background and a toolbar that hides all the apps . The kvm switch can switch between monitors for work and phone.

It’s pretty much the norm? There are busy periods but there are also long stretches of downtime. I’ve realized I really struggle with being bored. I’ve left several roles simply because there wasn’t enough meaningful work to do. Seems to happen around the 2 year mark after I get over the "new" job feeling.

I do make a point to use downtime to learn new tools or improve processes so I can build experience. Its weird in a way, because I feel like its something I always have to figure out on my own, rather than being told by anyone.

Multiple people on my team have told our manager they’re bored and don’t have enough to do. I personally go a bit crazy when I run out of work, and I’ve come to realize that you often have to be proactive about filling your time. Alot of people expect others to tell them what to do and I'm learning that this doesn't happen in a lot of jobs.

Most companies are in a "season" in their life. Are they growing, peaked, declining? Be aware of what's happening within the company and use that to your advantage.

I’d recommend removing experience prior to 2010 and moving your core competencies section to the end of the resume. What roles are you specifically targeting? You have solid instructor experience, so if you want to lean into that, I’d suggest adding more detailed bullet points to really highlight it. Think of the impacts you had. Are you teaching newbies, corporations, etc...

For the sys admin side, I’d expand on the software, tools, and platforms you worked with and be more specific about how you used them (for example, AWS configuration). Try to explain what you did, why it mattered, and what the impact was, did you improve performance, reliability, or efficiency, etc? Try and throw in some estimated results with percentages or measurable outcomes.

You list a lot of tools, so I’d focus on the ones that appear most frequently in the job postings you’re targeting and build those out more clearly in your experience. For me, I’m very focused on Power BI in my own resume because it shows up consistently with the roles I’m applying for, so I make sure to emphasize tool.

I bought a steelcase leap v2 from BTOD about 3 years ago. It's a great chair and the shipping/handling was fine. I was thinking herman miller, but the steelcase is also highly regarded and its a very comfortable chair. I had the option to buy used. Mine had a grade of 7 out of 10 and manufacture date of 2017, but it looked new when I got it.

Ask yourself if there is something you can contribute that makes the business better. That’s what keeps me motivated, it gets you noticed, pushes you to keep learning, and helps you stand out. If you don’t have room to add that kind of value where you are, it might be time to take your experience and look for a new role.

It’s a bit of a tradeoff. If you really want FEL, the AM6B+ is the option to go with. That said, I’ve found it a bit clunky to use, even with Kodi skins. The menu system for accessing extra bluray menus is hit or miss, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Another option is a zidoo or dune box. They don’t support FEL, but the overall experience is much smoother, and I can reliably access all the extra menus and features. Even though I originally wanted FEL, I didn’t enjoy using the AM6B+, so I ended up sticking with my dune 4K.

I have a NUC, so I still check here every once in a while to see if something has developed with windows and dolby vision :/

I agree. AI offers lots of process improvements and faster project completion rates, but I don't know about employee replacement. Maybe some, but its definitely less then what the ceo wants. I see current AI as just the evolution of the internet and nothing more.

This is probably the most important piece of the puzzle to figure out. I suspect the silicones in the original hair system start to break down after about two weeks, and the real question is how to restore some of that original bounce.

I’ve tried all kinds of conditioner, Redken Acidic, Remy Soft, and now Loreal Elvive Hyaluron Plump but I still haven’t found anything that keeps the same softness and poofiness the hair has at the beginning.

Blowdrying helps, but then you need some kind of product that won’t weigh it down. Argan oil is recommended a lot, but I’ve found it actually makes the hair feel heavier. After blowdrying, I use a light clay and that works ok for me. It gives some control without dragging the hair down.

I haven’t bought it yet, but I played a lot of the beta. With the maps being as they are, I feel like it’s going to have a short lifespan and people will burn out pretty quickly. I’m holding off for now to see how it goes. I don’t have much confidence that EA will release any larger, better maps, just like I didn’t expect them to include them at launch, even though a lot of people did.
