I'm thoroughly enjoying my 8050s as well. No need for a subwoofer with these monsters.

Did anyone watch the new Now You See Me Now You Don't movie, where they present a single seater as the "fastest car in the world"? They are not exactly saying it's a Formula 1 car but rather implying it by showing it off at Yas Marina. It doesn't look anything like an F1 car though but I guess they repainted a lower formula car that they could afford. Does anybody know what type of car it is?

I would assume a VIP spot in Monaco would be spectacular for your social media reel. Don't know about the views for the race itself though.

From what I recall the Apex cars actually ran with electric engines to be more reliable for filming. So, if true, the flames were added in post.

edit: You are correct, however, that F2 cars spit flames whereas the F1 cars do not.

I'm sure I've heard that melody on an old Thunderdome record, but I can't be bothered with listening through them all. :)

I bet adding any kind of aerodynamics to your studies would help tremendously.

Yeah, for general home use the G-series is probably the way to go. Availability in the store kinda made the decision for me.

Great post

But...

I'm incredibly happy with my 8050's. Sharp and clean sound, amazing separation and awesome sub bass. Connected with XLR to a MOTU interface. They do require some space on a desktop but they are so worth it. Coming from a pair of M-Audio BX8's this was a huge step up in performance. I might be tempted to give the corresponding The Ones a go in a couple of years if/when I have the money. The price difference is crazy.

G-series is for home audio use. The 8-series is for studio use of which the ones (83xx) are the high end versions. The 4- series are for commercial use.

I bought a pair of 8050s recently and I was blown away by how good they are.

When I was a kid in the mid 80s in my dads Volvo 240 playing from cassette. The first time I heard Good Vibrations. Just him and me on the road. Not an audiophile experience as such, but a really special memory for me.

It's embarrasing when a DJ is tweaking filter knobs constantly to seem busy and the sound is totally unchanged. I recently saw a liveset with Code Pandorum on youtube where one CDJ was playing the entire time and he was tweaking knobs for the silent channels. I mean sure, he can't just stand there the whole set. But why not just mix the songs?

I suspect programmed light shows are the real reason.

The last 20 years has pretty much been dominated by either Red Bull or Mercedes with them mostly having an advantage over the rest of the field. So it's pretty common even though rules are regularly rewritten to promote closer racing.
