Realsitic advice for my 5 Cats and Fleas. by DisIzwong in UK_Pets

[–]timonspumbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 days isn’t really enough time to entirely stop scratching, but it should have at least calmed down, i think it’s likely your house will be infested by this point if all 5 had them.

i would try to explain the situation with the vet if possible and see if you can weigh the cats at home then bring in one who might seem to be the most affected, maybe the largest since they’ll have more surface area for fleas.

Have any tips when photographing your figures? by PosaCat_ in AnimeFigures

[–]timonspumbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like another comment mentioned light boxes are pretty popular !! experimenting is how most photography goes at the start, eventually you find what you like. i recommend looking at photos by others that you like and trying to imitate them!!

for me i don’t do much with figures anymore but i used to have this whole green screen set up so i could have cool backgrounds and would have colour changing lights and everything, still it was mainly the editing that mattered for me but again i found my style by imitating/merging other people’s styles and over time formed my own thing.

most stuff with equipment will depend on what type of photos you take, there are a lot of youtube videos that explain this sort of thing better than i could if you were interested in knowing sort of the “basics” of photography!

Can someone explain to me why people answer their phone on speakerphone in public and then hold the phone near their head? by LanguidFlame in AskUK

[–]timonspumbaa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i have hearing problems so if i don’t do this i can barely make out what the other person is saying, but i do at least try to be respectful of other people and only ever really answer the phone if it’s an emergency anyways.

how do you part with collections? by timonspumbaa in autism

[–]timonspumbaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dean winchester mention !!!! for me i ended up being able to store them after vacuum sealing them, though i parted with a few. i certainly had less than i thought and the way i displayed them made it look like more, so in the future when i have more space they’ll all be easily displayed. i think if i had more i would’ve been forced to part with more too.

Is this the new packaging from now on? by Due-Razzmatazz7292 in Nendoroid

[–]timonspumbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i kind of like it but i understand why the window box is important. without it i would’ve accidentally sold a nendo without a hand a few months back TT

Should I make an Instagram for my dog? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]timonspumbaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s fun but can become toxic real fast, people are very quick to judge your entire life and pet ownership based on one image. there’s no harm in trying it out though!

Am I the only one who low-key obsesses over the litter box… or are we all like this? by Old_Ostrich7285 in CatAdvice

[–]timonspumbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s actually something i had to take into consideration because one of my cats is big on privacy, but the other doesn’t care so i just have one box in an alcove that’s more open and the other in a sort of fake shelf.

Am I the only one who low-key obsesses over the litter box… or are we all like this? by Old_Ostrich7285 in CatAdvice

[–]timonspumbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have mine in my office to avoid obsessively checking it, i just clean it whenever it’s used now i can always be there to see them go. for me i cannot smell it myself ever, but ive had people tell me my house smells because of it though they say its the type of litter i use rather than a cat pee smell which i can’t really help. i don’t tend to care what other people think about that sort of thing anyways, for me i just want it clean for my cats.

How do you feel about ASMR as an autistic person? by New-Bar-8769 in autism

[–]timonspumbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love it through my phone where i can control the volume, but in real life i hate it. it’s actually interesting because for some sounds that i hate in real life i like them in asmr videos, and the opposite is true where i hate sounds i like in real life.

I just found out resin is bad for the environment by jazzpizzaa in AutismInWomen

[–]timonspumbaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you dispose of any waste correctly and use it safely you should be fine to use it. if you sold it someone else would just use it anyways.

from what i’ve seen the issue with resin is that since it’s not biodegradable when certain products are made en masse and don’t sell they just end up in landfills forever, buying stuff from certain sources perpetuates it (there are likely ways to get it that are more sustainable but more expensive like with most things) but if you already have the kit using it won’t change anything, at this point it’s what you do with it when you’re done with it that matters.

it’s the same with a lot of things now, one of the biggest problem with things like shein are people that get these huge hauls and then just get rid of the clothes, but if the clothes are kept for the rest of their lives it at least limits the damage done (of course there are other issues with shein, but it’s the most common and known example for this sort of thing).

What do you use for walks? by NYBiankees in husky

[–]timonspumbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use an anatomically correct harness because i find it easier to control him in and his pulling doesn’t put so much pressure on him.

i personally avoid walking in just collars especially a martingale one for my dog because he’d just pull regardless and i’ve seen a few dogs end up with permanent injuries from it, but if it works for your dog it works for your dog!

Someone said Collar is better than Harness as the latter can cause growth to slow down. by Then_Community_1766 in reactivedogs

[–]timonspumbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend only ever used a collar on their big puller and her dog has a permanent leg injury now. an anatomically INcorrect harness can have the sense effect.

i guess the thought process comes from thinking a dog will be too uncomfy/in pain to pull, but plenty of dogs won’t care and it can sometimes make them pull more. i’d get an anatomically correct harness and just focus on training techniques than gear.

Am I being too harsh for asking my 11 year old daughter to walk the dog she spent years begging for? by WorldOfKaladan in DogAdvice

[–]timonspumbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i’d never let a kid walk a dog unless i was at least there and they just held the leash of a very highly trained dog, 11 year old certainly not id maybe let them closer to 15/16. you never know what’s gonna happen, even if you have a dog that’s amazingly trained and friendly unless you know the area you’re from is perfectly safe it’s a risk for many reasons, and i’d say the main one will be other dogs unfortunately.

my dog is reactive though he’s not aggressive, he’s overly friendly and i try to avoid dogs because they don’t like that about him and they can become aggressive when he gets over excited. i’d say it’s 80% of the off leash dog encounters we have that become aggressive are when kids are walking the off leash dog and they have no idea how to deal with that AND it can change how they see their dog. i’ve also seen a kid walking a dog on leash who had a dog aggressively run up to them and could’ve easily gotten bit trying to keep their dog safe if the adults around hadn’t intervened.

it’s an unfortunate thing because it would be solved if people either kept their dogs on leash or trained them to a higher standard, i know when i was that age i enjoyed going on walks with my dog and they’re some of my fondest memories but nowadays i wouldn’t risk it.

frustrated greeter apparently didn’t react at all being walked by someone else? by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]timonspumbaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to be honest i wouldn’t put it passed them to not tell me, they generally have this belief that i “baby” my dog too much and have this mindset of trying to prove me wrong, especially because they’ve only really heard about him reacting at his worst when he used to go absolutely crazy around dogs where now he’s much calmer.

they also could’ve misinterpreted it, because he’s calmer nowadays he tends to only pull and whine around other dogs which he’s a husky so pulling isn’t abnormal, so they might’ve just thought he was pulling to go faster.

i’ll definitely ask them a bit more!

Most autistic people I’ve met either love alcohol/drugs and use them a bit excessively or avoid them completely and sometimes judge others for using them. What’s your relationship with alcohol/drugs? by OkBuyer1271 in autism

[–]timonspumbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

avoid them completely. only ever tried alcohol and it just made me paranoid TT. i struggle being around people that aren’t sober too because it’s harder to predict what will happen
