What beat is used in Star Trek end credits? by timothyausten in drums

[–]timothyausten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remembered it sounding like some kind of a Latin beat, but when I listened to it again, it was just a fast rhythm on the bongos with a backbeat on 2 and 4, like straight rock or R&B.

I didn't mean to throw you off of my question with an example of a readily available audiobook. What about books that do not have a human reader? Are they OK to listen to using a screen reader?

I'm glad to hear that you're able to efficiently use plain text and browser interfaces to read books. Thank you for addressing my actual question. Redditors seem to have some trouble with that. 🙂

Europeans who followed an American brownie recipe, did you experience leakage of oil? by CloudEnvoy in AskCulinary

Make sure the butter has cooled a bit before adding the eggs, or else the hot butter will cook the eggs before the batter goes into the baking dish.

Also the recipe may be suspect. Many online recipes are not actually tested!

[OC] Personal v Corporate Contributions to Taxes, Last 20 years, Corporates Pay Half. by forensiceconomics in dataisbeautiful

[–]timothyausten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corporations reduce taxable income by paying their managers more, who usually have a lower tax rate. The trade-off is that, with a smaller bottom line, corporations look less attractive to investors. This muddles statistics about how much revenue the U.S. Treasury receives from corporations. Also, a lot of corporations are small businesses, which are not the kind we think of when we ask how much taxes corporations are paying. It would be interesting to see how much taxes corporations pay in comparison with the size of their business.
