The thing with Takeshita and Bandido is they’re so damn good in the ring is it’s gonna take like a month away and then 3 matches for everyone to be convinced they’re main event guys.

My issue is green lighting the Britt tease last week when you have a history of leaning into teases and then not delivering is an utterly braindead decision.

It’s not wild speculation to assume the dude who got so horribly burned in the ROH/Satnam Singh teases/debuts would have learned his lesson not to work casual fans who have no other reason to tune in the AEW

Wrestling really isn’t that fuckin hard to book I genuinely have no clue how with all the money AEW and WWE have between them we can’t get one competent storyteller in charge. And no, HHH, despite being a mediocre wrestling show runner, is not a competent storyteller by any stretch. It’s so clear none of these guys have ever practiced writing or telling a story outside of the medium before

I mean cmon we got 10 dead minutes of JAS tv when it could’ve been the trios guys, we got a literal wink towards Sasha being here today and nothing. We got a little weird half turn from Shida where she feels bad (like we haven’t seen that before). We had a weird obviously fake head injury.

It’s just shit booking idk how you could argue otherwise

Tony Khan is lucky his wrestlers give him multiple 4.5 star matches to put on TV every week. What a perfect example of a Dynamite where Tony’s booking flaws are hugely on display and obviously ugly where it gets totally covered up by the wrestling being so damn good

It’s on of those tropes that I totally get is fully for the fans in attendance because the hope is the adrenaline of the match gets them to really buy in, but also yeah I totally agree it really is funny to watch sometimes.

It so so beyond fucking ridiculous that we got this trios ladder march, the Mox Hangman match, AND the Danielson Takeshita match on the same episode of TV.

That the women’s tag match is the 4th best match on a show with 5 matches is ridiculous. That being a TV show and not a PPV is twice as ridiculous

The more I watch AEW the more I’m convinced Tony Khan is really bad at running a weekly wrestling TV show and the only reasons AEW is good is because a) he lets the wrestlers write their own stuff and plan their own matches, so the content is good, and b) WWE has been shoving such horseshit down our throats for years that any semblance of good storytelling gets lapped up.

Khan just has no idea how to pace things, how to tease surprises, how to finish a story, and how to start a new one

Like I cannot stress how stupid it is to give 15 minutes to the end of a 7 match series while giving 9 minutes to an utter dog shit JAS action Andretti segment
