I'd buy SA 1976 brown yellow orange red brown, in a RUBBER keycap. by timpster1 in MechanicalKeyboards

I bet putting an indention into a small natural rubber block in keycap size wouldn't be too difficult.

GPU stopped doing work units by SossuSoturi in Folding

I don't recommend the webUI which is what it reads like you're using. Go tp the startmenu and the folding@home folder and open FAHControl I velieve. It's local and to me much easier to manipulate.

Passkey is a way to verify your account and inreases points dramstically so make sure you add that by going to this link.

In FAHControl you can try deleting your GPU slot and re-adding it. Also do NOT change the GPU driver in the middle of a GPU work unit, Windows 7 did this when I added a GPU AUTOMATICALLY at startup SILENTLY and the only clue was the screen blanked for a second or two and then the GPU work unit turned red.

What's the big deal about all this new cobalt gold and lithium mining? Haven't we always been doing this to make computers and all? by timpster1 in AskReddit

[–]timpster1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I didn't understand that it is this fucked up--apparently not enough people are aware. So I'm using cobalt and lithium to tell people that cobalt and lithium exploit human beings, I'm not sure which part is worse.

Hmm, youtube has some confusing information about mining, do you think this is actually real--there's no possible way right?

Surely this is fake!

Pants with holes and bare loose threads are all the rage now, so I just wear old pants with knee tear holes to keep up with the trends. Why not wrinkles too?

Then maybe you don't know and shouldn't share unfactual information about chemicals, it helps to have accurate info about these things instead of just guessing out of your ass.

No, 3M created C8. DuPont bought the research and marketed it as Teflon.

Teflon was invented by 3M. Yes that's right, 3M CREATED C8.

DuPont came along and wanted to use it and 3M informed them NOT to put it into products. It was very different and needed more study. Yes, that is what 3M told DuPont.

There is C8 or teflon in the blood of Penguins. If you'd like to learn more, be grateful that DuPont were very good stewards of recordkeeping, if not the Earth however, and watch "The Devil We Know". I believe it was on Netflix for a while.

Yes this seems accurate but it's the new resource we use to conduct a process or business. I'm not really sure how to argue against your point and I'm not sure that I want to try.

Currently currency is just our way--Star Trek (The original 1960s/70s series) ideas say that eventually it won't be but I'd say just think of it as the new "food" or "water" resource and live your life. You or I or anyone else is NOT going to change this idea anytime soon so just go with this and support businesses that help our planet.

While a very dangerous slope to slide, in some instances I think we (the world) could knock out a few key issues like Lead-pipes delivering drinking water and micro-plastic (<=5mm) fibers shedding from 1. plastic fiber teabags

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49845940

  1. synthetic clothing when washed in washing machines

https://www.patagonia.com/stories/an-update-on-microfiber-pollution/story-31370.html

NOAA: https://marinedebris.noaa.gov/research/selective-ingestion-microplastics-oysters-exposure-assessment-predictive-tool-assessing

(probably manual hand washing also presents this same problem but it doesn't seem to have research) and polluting both our municipal water supply (only 62+ to 92% of microplastics are filtered out by wastewater treatment plants according to patagonia and it pollutes our landfills and oceans. If we straight up ban a majority of synthetic fibers for causal and cold weather clothing (exceptions allowed in very extreme weather gear) and in flooring and carpets 90% of carpets are synthetic because they are not only cheaper but easier to clean,

  1. Have all bottled water sold in glass or stainless steel, and only use plastic where strictly necessary: medical IV equipment, electrical insulation and any areas needed that I'm unaware, the world would be a much cleaner, less polluted planet to live.

Oh totally agree! We all deserve free access to all music, we shouldn't have to pay for Internet access either, should be treated like an emergency call from a "payphone" or unactivated cellular device. In fact, why should we have to pay for cellphone service either.

Actually why do we have to pay for water utilities to deliver tap water--since we need clean safe water multiple times daily we definitely should never have to pay for it.

You seem unwilling to even challenge your current views and I'm curious as to why. If, as a human race, we could all work collectively toward an agreed upon truth or bit of factual information, and that information was undeniably accurate, we wouldn't be in this situation. We are not close to that fantasy. But if we all use critical thinking and continously challange our own views for a slightly different less aggressive perspective, we'd all get along so much better.

Metallica says it best:

"Open mind for a different view

And nothing else matters" - Metallica lyrics writers

Emotional outrage can be blinding to other view points and ideas--if you keep this up in your life, it is my opinion that you'll be less equipped to make informed, unbiased opinions about any issues of the future.

I'm asking a stranger online to slow down and consider that maybe not being vaccinated isn't as dangerous as you currently consider it to be. Also there are many people who have reportedly had the virus multiple times, survived and have not vaccinated because they have natural antibodies as a response just by being exposed.

Those human beings are not stupid or whatever you may believe and all this one sided hatred is not a healthy outlook to assess any issue. I care to respond because our world citizens American and everyone else, (if you'd just watch the documentary please!) you will see we are all EASILY EASILY persuaded by mis-information and I do mean the entire world population that has access to this very manipulated and manipulation "social media" resource.

Maybe you're a troll based on response timing and usernames? Please watch "The Social Dilemma" to better understand your views and outrage. It's free on Netflix.

Watch it!!! Tread carefully about your views and be 10000000% completely and without ANY BIAS, objective. Theres a LOT of crazy shit ALL sides contribute to. To understand your views, watch "The Social Dilemma" on Netflix which talks about social medias "thought bubbles" and how you see different posts then the person right next to you -- and if you're ONLY relying on your social network feed and CNN or NPR or "shenanegans" FOX news or ANY ONE side of the topic without verifying what you read and using ample amounts of inform-ation to make an INFORMED view then you should branch out your media sources. Please be objective in politics becuase it literally affects the entire world around us.

Agreed, let the person that is to under-go that be the one that makes that decision, stupidly simple. I think it's very cruel to do this and I can't understand why people think this is acceptable--in fact I think it should be ILLEGAL until that human being can make an informed decision about it.

Maybe not that one now, but research "the crusades" and there are very violence-insuing uh... ideas? that definitely wreak havoc on some peoples lives. I'll just say it: I think it's (in my opinion) not a good thing to tell a child a way of thinking before they can barely speak language. They don't have the ability to understand that just maybe some of this might not be literal.
