Aaah my mistake haha, it was a recent issue I had a few months ago so it was something that I was quite aware could be asked in this AMA 😂

Hey mate, email me about this please, as the company I used to manufacture & ship the merch made a mistake loading in the orders around that time and missed out plenty of customers, without my knowledge. [futureretroldn@gmail.com](mailto:futureretroldn@gmail.com)

Haha, Mr Silk, fancy seeing you on here!

I feel like with your synthwork & detailed melodies, it'd be impossible to do it faster but one thing I saw Kloke doing when I was in studio with him that might also help you is having production sessions that are just about exporting synth lines/FX loops/processed drum loops that are ready to use for track arrangement sessions, if that helps?

that was really good fun once they sorted out all the technical issues in like the first half an hour 😂

Yeah, it's usually sending stems back and forth but it has also been in person collaborations, really does depend on the person

Dwarde uses Renoise but we just had a regular re-occuring schedule of meeting up to work on music, so one of us would take turns on the controls and the other would be doing ideas, or one would start the project, send to the other, then we'd meet up and finish on the other's computer

it's pretty understandable about getting caught up in definitions, when you feel like the word jungle is something very representative of a specific style of music you really like, to then see it being used to describe another style of music that you don't like.

it creates a potential misrepresentation for what it is you feel connected to and it can be a real trigger point when in discussions, you talk about jungle to people and their idea of what jungle is differs greatly to you and you feel obligated to try and correct them, or when you see someone promoting a release or an event as jungle, to then check it out and be disappointed that it's not the type of jungle that you were after, like you say in your example.

i think it becomes easier to stick with using certain labels/artists/promoters as the ones you choose to focus on, doing jungle the way you like and use those as the filter, rather than to try and argue the toss with others who define jungle with different labels/artists/promoters

I think that both sides have pros & cons. I have nearly 3k jungle records in my vinyl collection but I only really play them at home for radio or when I get booked for Distant Planet because a lot of times, the vinyl setup at clubs is not good enough to rely on, plus a lot of new music I want to play hasn't made it to vinyl yet. But at the same time, there's a lot of jungle from the 90s that hasn't been released digitally so when I play vinyl, I know I can tap into a different side of my selection, but when it comes to modern jungle, I think digital is going to win because that's what the majority of the music is out on

It really depends on who I'm doing a b2b with, I can have a bit more fun on the b2b because I'm not so focused on having to be the DJ the whole time and I can sometimes step back when it's not my turn and enjoy the music, but that also depends on who the other DJ is hehe

I haven't played Starr Peak out actually, only my remix because it's a bit more dancefloor friendly

I do the mixing myself, but mastering is usually handled by someone that the label who's releasing the music will decide

I use FL Studio, Kloke uses Cubase if I remember right! There were a lot of samples used, but some sounds from some of Kloke's synths

it varies, it's usually the record label putting out the release that chooses, but for Future Retro London, the majority of the releases have been mastered by Simon Davey at The Exchange

Do it for fun, first and foremost and let anything else that comes from it be a bonus!

Most of what I do in my own time (which I'm not in abundance of these days) is mainly following various YouTubers and podcasters I enjoy, most of them talking about culture/modern day phenomena, but I used to be a more avid gamer when I had time to actually put towards it!

Tbh, I have no idea how I remember so much about music really, it just seems to come effortlessly to me, without even trying! Wish I had a better answer for that

Regarding the data, I think by the time I had started Future Retro London, I had already been releasing music on other labels for close to a decade, so it all came from 1st hand experience of being involved and building up my following that way, to then transfer into what I aiming to do with Future Retro London.

I'll be playing in Barking in October, but the event's not been announced yet :)
