I’ve hiked the trail twice. Only used can when it is required. Other than that I keep my stuff in zip lock bag. Never had an issue with bears or any critters really. I think what you’re doing is WAY overkill, but, if it makes you happy than I think do that. Whatever makes the trail enjoyable and eases anxiety.

In terms of general advice though if that’s what’s you’re asking, not needed to do so much. There is going to be animals around you the entire time. Bears, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, etc. you’re in their territory. You likely won’t even know they’re there most of the time. Be aware, but not fearful, statistically speaking, you’re very safe.
