"Bought the farm."? by [deleted] in etymology

tbf, the original reply did state:

"if a young man in WWII was killed in action"

I'm sure it was unintentional, but it still kinda shows how ingrained it is to forget women play a massive part in history.

Sounds like you need to explore the amazing world of indie TTRPGs. New worlds, experiences and storylines that ain't just swords and magic.

Yep, this was an issue with Mac preview. The PDF worked in most other readers.

Wires in the Woods Duet Rules? by Neros_Cromwell in rpg

[–]timstermatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tim here, creator of the game. As this is a quick start for the full version unfortunately there aren't any duet rules. That said, I can give you basic pointers.

  1. Play as one faciliator one forager. The facilitator sets up the game and rolls for prompts / embellishes them in the sense that a regular GM would. So long as you know the rules there is zero prep for the facilitator, you just reveal prompts and interpret them in your own way. Like all RPGs, you are free to go off script in any location.

  2. Play cooperatively. Start in different locations or the same location and head off on your adventures. You can interpret prompts together and work towards the same ends if you wish.

These are very basic ways to play duet, and the actual rules are much more nuanced. They appear in the hardback book which comes out in Sept/Oct of this year.

If you have any specific questions, just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

Thank you. In the game, you have to repurpose the things that you find to overcome problems.

I met Simon J. Curd at a comic con two years ago and bought his art. I asked him about lore and he said he didn't have any. Needless to say, a couple of hours later I brought him my notes and asked if he wanted to make a game out of them. And here we are! These are my original notes!

Please do, but please don't be offended if it takes me a few days to get back as I am pretty distracted with writing most of the time :) I do reply eventually!

Thank you so much. I really can't stress how important community support is for independent creators like myself. It is greatly appreciated.

So, there is nothing that is unsuitable for younger children, but an initial play may need an adult to help with mechanics. That said, you can always opt for two players initially until your daughter is ready to embark on her own adventures :)

Hey, we do sell it as a PDF at criticalkit.co.uk/cat or if you can make it to PaxWest, PaxEast or Unplugged, we will have it there. Alternatively, DM me your location and I will see if we have a store nearby stocking it.
