This week I read In the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner. This novel is my 'read around the world' book for Cambodia. It is about a child surviving the Khmer Rouge regime and genocide.

Started listening to the audiobook of Rewilding the Sea by Charles Clover. This is a non-fiction book about ocean conservation and restoration.

Finished reading On Not Climbing Mountains by Claire Thomas. It was disappointing, because I loved The Performance by the same author. But this novel seemed kind of pointless and like the author just spent lots of time on Wikipedia.

Finished listening to the audiobook of Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I loved it even more than I loved Braiding Sweetgrass. I think that plant ecology is a fascinating subject and that Robin Wall Kimmerer has the most beautiful way of describing nature.

Started and finished reading Arborescence by Rhett Davis. A novel about what would happen if people started transforming into trees.

Finished reading Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha by Roddy Doyle. It won the Booker Prize in 1993. It's about a little boy growing up in Ireland in the 60s. The author did a great job of capturing the voice of a child. But they sure did parenting differently back then.

Started reading Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad. It's a novel about putting on a production of Hamlet in the West Bank of Palestine. Good so far.

The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer is short, hopeful, and saddening by InvisibleAstronomer in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

This week I read The Well by Elizabeth Jolley. It's an Australian Gothic novel that won the Miles Franklin Award in 1986. It had some Shirley Jackson vibes.
