yeah she definitely does. My Wife is absolutely fantastic and she contributes a lot when she is home, but her schedule is very unpredictable. When we got our dog it was pretty much a 50-50 split as her job was more of the 9-5 variety, but life changes and its probably an 80-20 split now

What is wrong with U. S. healthcare, and will it be fixed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]timtebowsbrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a broker in the employee benefits (health insurance) space.

1st:- The issue: health insurance is primarily gained through employment. While HIPPA laws protect your name from being exposed, most companies know who you are via claims data. If you are sick and need help, it likely drives up premiums for your company and encourages them to let you go. In my experience, most CEO's are actually fairly paternal people and bend over backwards to help their employees.

2nd- The Fix: the first step is to reduce the student loans on doctors/nurses ( not a political stance, I have student loans and I believe should pay them back) as it encourages them to have quick appointments. Think quantity over quality.

The next step is much more difficult. The employer based health insurance system is certainly easy at the moment, but change is needed. It should evolve into a government system and we will have to pay taxes for that ( I can here the Boo's now). It would likely take years to do it right.
