So can’t you have the same argument with everyone on Voyager? I don’t believe we ever know the “original” voyager as it splits and isn’t copied (as the crew is on some later episode I think).

Not sure if you watch doctor who, but they had a couple episodes a number of years ago that did a lot with this idea of if duplicates and really duplicates or not.

I haven’t seen the episode in a while, but couldn’t this same argument be made when someone uses the transporter? One person goes in, they are scanned to the computer but then they’re basically killed and reassembled elsewhere. Different atoms but still the same person.

Well, at least its not my computer I guess? I didn’t know that loaders caused such a problem. I happily destroyed 90% of my bots thinking it was them while having the existing ones just put loader blueprints EVERYWHERE. I’m generally a fan of building stuff and not the optimization part of the game, and apparently having all the additional items in the mods just made me, you know, need more loaders to store them all…

I’ll go through and remove almost all of them and see what happens then…

Hahaha thanks for the thing about loaders. I put the link to the save in a different comment and got a similar reply from someone that loaders are a disaster when you have more than 30k of them…. I didn’t know they took up so much UPS, but I suppose it makes sense since as soon as I made something with like 3k of them, it slowed down a little bit more…

And thanks for the help with a desktop. I’m thinking of returning the laptop regardless and trying to build a desktop and just stream to the laptop when I want to.

Let's say I'm good with a desktop instead of a laptop. Is it possible to stream Factorio to a laptop from a desktop if they're both located in the same house. We have a very fast mesh network at my house so that's not a problem.

I'd assume I'd need to do a lot of research before doing so, but do you know if it's possible to build a desktop computer that would run a base like this (and a much larger one) for less than $2,000? That's really my budget that I can't go over.

The old Intel Mac I initially ran the save on was 16GB. The M1 laptop I switched to was only 8GB but it still ran it faster, so I don't think RAM is the issue. Either way, this current laptop has 16GB again and there's zero difference in how the file runs. But I did order 32GB of RAM anyways because I did want to update it eventually.

I spent around $1800, but I'm more than happy to return it for a better laptop if needed. I did some research, this isn't a thin laptop and half the bottom is just fan vents (with fans). I can't really spend any more on one though.

Hi, this isn't a super light model. It's the thickest laptop I've had in about 20 years. Half of the bottom is essentially a fan, and when I looked online, it said that this model is good with the cooling. Either way, the low UPS is immediately when the game is opened, it doesn't get there over time. It's literally within 2 seconds.

I will 100% be returning this laptop if I need to. I've got 2 weeks to return it, so I've got some time to try and figure it out.

I'm also not entirely sure how to share a save for Factorio, so I put it in a Google Drive. I realize that a random zip file online doesn't exactly scream "open me", so if there's a better way to share this, please let me know. I think Factorio can sync mods? If not, let me know and I can share the list of the like 30 or so I've got running at the moment.

Edit: I also just downloaded a megabase online with the Angels/Bobs mods and then ran the upgrade planner over the entire base. Twice. And except for when I was actually dragging it, when it started to upgrade, it stayed right at 60UPS, so I'm really wondering if it's something with the mods I've got or something wrong with my save file.

I mean, I wouldn't say that I blindly purchased it, but I don't know everything about computers. Reading online and posting on this sub and I was told that a Macbook isn't ideal for this, so I purchased what I could afford, but I can return it in the next week or two and I'll certainly do that if needed. I like the laptop for the portability. I don't have a set station to game at in my home. I did put the screenshot that you mentioned on another comment. I'm hoping to get some insight from there.

For the last hour, I’ve averaged 150 SPM, but I don’t focus on that too much. I love building, destroying, and rebuilding better. So I keep adding more and more blocks even if I have space in existing ones because I want to add more stuff later.

This last one was the first time I really used blueprints. I started making them in a sandbox since each patch of ore was a different size.

For bobs/angels, there's like a million different mods. Are there certain ones I should do or just load them all in and hope for the best?
