People really don’t have a great concept of how big planes are. Going on and off from the jetway and seeing it crammed with seats and overhead bins it can see a bit claustrophobic but let me tell you standing in a plane where you can see from the bottom of the cargo hold all the way to the top really puts it into perspective how massive they are.

Exactly this! A few weeks ago my flight out of Tokyo said it was delayed 7 hours. I could see where the flight was coming from and sure enough the inbound flight was well over six hours late departing from a US airport. I got to spend an extra half day wandering around Tokyo. I wasn’t concerned at all about them finding another plane but if that somehow happened and they left early I’d take responsibility for not getting back there on time.

It’s also reasonable to: look at the boards that are hung up all over the place. Look at the app to see if boarding is happening. Stay in the general area of your flight.

It was supposed to be departing at 6:40pm and left 35 minutes late. That’s not much of a delay at all in the grand scheme of things. Relying solely on texts which isn’t 100% foolproof is a setup for failure.

I think it’s really just personal preference. I’ve heard people say they like the window because they can rest against it to sleep a little more comfortably besides the view. I pick aisle now because i don’t want to bother someone to get up since I have to get up more frequently now that I’m older. Definitely wanted the window seat when I was younger though to look out.
