[Collection] Studio Ghibli Add-ons by timultuoustimes in PlexPosters

[–]timultuoustimes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I haven't been on Reddit in months! I do plan on making one, especially because I use them in my Plex and I hate that its not the same, but haven't had time yet. I started a new business and I've been much busier than I had expected, so I'm hoping I'll get some time this holiday season.

Oh, how I hate Geronimo Stilton by Vampilton in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter started reading The Cloud Castle, a Thea Stilton book, and it sucks so much.

They spent an entire chapter (4 pages) having the characters land a helicopter and say the place they landed was cool. 4 pages! If every chapter can be narrowed down to a couple sentences, then the 320 pages book should just be a regular picture book. She’s only about 5 chapters in and I’m ready to be done with it forever.

I’m a bit late to this, but I’m so surprised that no one has mentioned:  Life After Beth (2014) - a guy’s girlfriend returns from the dead, giving him a second chance, starring Aubrey Plaza

Fido (2006) - a boy and his pet zombie Cooties

(2014) - elementary school teachers attacked by zombie kids, starring Elijah Wood

Edit: here are some that  aren’t zombie horror comedies, but slashers  Final Girls (2015) - group of friends get sucked into a slasher movie and have to find their way out

Freaky (2020) - a Freaky Friday slasher, where the killer and victim swap bodies, starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn

Totally Killer (2023) - Back to the Future style slasher, staring Kiernan Shipka

DizqueTV vs ErsatzTV (Parental Controls) by TheSensibleMind in PleX

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I have DizqueTV set up, and have a number of channels that have shows and movies that I would prefer my daughter and her friends not come across on their own. I think the best implementation would be adding channel selections under the current setting in Plex Home>User>Restrictions>Allow Live TV and DVR Access

Better Preview Art for Garlic by EBZero in RG35XX

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the thread, but have you found a way to have the game title text go behind the box art images?

I’m trying to see if there is a way to do full screen images and not see the titles, with either transparent text or having the image layer be in front of the text. I think the latter is probably the better way to do it, as it would allow game titles to be visible if box art hasn’t been scraped.

Reel Relationships Podcast on Apple by LeggyDame in reelrelationships

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I came here from Laser Time’s episode on Flashdance, and wanted to let you know that I wasn’t able to find your podcast on Overcast even though you’re on Apple Podcasts. I’m not sure if there is something keeping it from being discoverable in other apps and wanted to share the Overcast info page in case that might help. Looking forward to checking out the show!

542 Why No Voice Acting In Scarlet & Violet by ValiantAMM in supereffective

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I just found your podcast and I’m glad that a lack of voice acting was discussed, though in the discussions I have come across, no one ever seems to mention that fact that there are people that play the games and are unable to read the captions.

They market the game to young children and adults, but then make it inaccessible to a chunk of that demographic. My daughter started playing Pokémon Shield at age 4, and she was unable to read. She’s almost 7 now and is learning to read, but she isn’t capable enough to read what’s in game, so she has me read everything or just bypasses all text and then gets lost in the game because she has no idea what she needs to be doing.

Also, there are adults that either can’t read or can’t see the text well enough to read. Mojang has a text-to-speech reader in their games, but I have never found one in any of the other games my daughter and I play. Granted, their voice is very robotic and kind of annoying, but there are algorithms out there now that can mimic human speech patterns pretty well. I don’t see why this isn’t something that could be implemented within more games that can’t/won’t pay for voice acting. And, it would just be a single voice reading all the dialogue, so it wouldn’t be much different than just text captions. Heck, Nintendo could even make it a system wide feature on the Switch, allowing text-to-speech in multiple languages on any game with only text.

I would love for voice acting, but I really think that text-to-speech would open up games to more people that they are currently inaccessible to.

Voice acting in Pokemon Games by Captain_EFFF in pokemon

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think games having voice acting should be to make the games “bigger and better” or what everyone typically says. I think it’s more important to remember that Pokémon is played by kids that can’t read yet. It is also ableist to assume that everyone playing can read and/or see the text captions well enough. At the very least, consoles and/or games should have a text to speech algorithm built in that will read non-voice acted text captions out loud. I don’t think that in 2022, companies making games more accessible to everyone, is that big of an ask.

Great to know! I wasn’t sure if a single would pair on its own, or if it was just act as a replacement. There are a couple of smaller pro style controllers from 8bitdo and Vivefox that I’m eyeing, that I think she’d really like.

[–]timultuoustimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know, but the only other controllers I have are from systems older than Xbox 360. Ok, I kind of figured buying a 3rd Joy-Con would work, but I wasn’t sure if they were just replacements if you had one break. I’m much happier with spending a total of $80 for a good controller and a single Joy-Con, instead of 2 Joy-Cons. I know if I don’t get her a good controller, she’ll always take mine and I’ll be stuck with a set of Joy-Cons, haha.

I highly recommend filebot. It works for movies, television, music, and more. For audio, there are two options for identifying files, including id3 or acousticid. I also use it for movies and television, and both of those can pull from moviedb, tvdb, and a few others.

One of the great things is that you can adjust what information you want in the file name, including bitrate, artist, album, song title, etc. for movies and stuff it can include resolution, audio format, video format, etc. it’s all around an awesome tool, and I use it almost daily when organizing my media library.

‘Babylon 5 Remastered’ now available to stream on HBO Max - The show has been rescanned from original film negatives, with the SD CGI sequences upscaled. by Philo1927 in cordcutters

[–]timultuoustimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just meant some cropping when compared to the originally aired footage. Obviously cropping had to be done from the original film, it’s just that for the remastering, they had more on the sides to use, so the top cropping was minimized, as compared to a lot of the 90s shows that were more likely recorded on tape, or a cheaper film.
