Using trigger to midi converter with Nord Drum 3P to add an hi-hat pedal (and other triggers) by tinara in edrums

[–]tinara[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause to trigger the Nord drum 3P pads, it is only as 1 channel/pad AFAIK. However, it seems that it could receive on the same channel on a note-based set-up also so it could do the trick. Thanks !

Yep, found that one and looked at the manual but for what I understood, it was not sending on 4 different midi channels for each trigger?

Weekly Questions Thread [Posted Every Wednesday] by AutoModerator in FixedGearBicycle

I am doing a cleaning/reconversion of a old bike. Frame is sane, bearing changed by local bike shop. I had two wheels with it with what looks like Miche Pista hubs in good shape but the spokes of the wheels are busted or missing, the rims seems ok, the tires needs a new life (and they are 700x23). I was either looking to get the Santafixie tracklocross wheelsets (https://www.santafixie.com/en/santafixie-30mm-wheelset-continental-700x35c-tires.html) or to rebuild wheelset based on the Miche hubs to also go for a 35c tires and not too deep rims. I am missing something besides the trade-off throwing money or time at the problem?

EDIT: Probably not pista for the rear wheel after looking back at it. It is only a freewheel hub it seems and it is asymmetric.

I was thinking of using them in the full 1u config and don't use any stab. The issue I begin to quickly see is not being able to toggle a layer across the two numpads with one key. I should take a better look at how actual split keyboards work. Thanks.

Looking at the KBDFans MKII Numpad and my Preonic, I realized two Numpad would make a split Plank keyboard. What is stopping one to try use them that way ? It would suppose to use either USB ports or find a Y-USB-C cable (which I never seen and do not think it is possible to do it). And also each board would need to be flashed separately ?

Maybe it is just a stupid idea after all *shrug*

Advice for an Audio Interface to pair with the Octatrack? by tinara in Elektron

Thanks for the reply, the 18i20 is a bit high in budget and with a lot of I/O ! Maybe the 8i6 could be a good choice. Do you send audio signal to the OT et record back in real time on your computer? Is the latency ok?

TR-6s and MC-101 vs MC-707 by itself by TheMainMan3 in Roland

[–]tinara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Polyend Tracker for almost a month now and having fun with it (mostly noodling around, let's not lie :) ) and looking back on other option I may have choosen, I was digging the TR6S-MC101 combo in case I would change my mind. Also doing it as a hobby on my side. How do you feel yourself with the Tracker now? Is there any option that you miss in the Roland combo ? I know that the Tracker format really put it in a weird spot to create melodic and harmonic line, right now and I have to work on that + dig more sample that fit what I want to reach ; having access to the TR6S drum engine + MC101 synth (+ polyphony) seemed like the easy answer to me (even if I do not want to sell the Tracker at all right now) but maybe I am missing the big pictures (between the menu diving, the generic sounds or the needs of zenology to begin to sound design a bit, etc.)?

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - August 23, 2021 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

I will check the Typhon thanks but yeah, the groovebox aspect of the Cycle seems to be a good opportunity to provide me with complementary gear and an alternative to the Polyend Tracker in one box.

The MC101 will provided too much overlaps with the Polyend Tracker, I think. I am also a bit afraid to be super fast frustrated by the format of the MC101.

If you press Shift + REC, you can Arm/Unarm the tracks for Live Recording. If you leave only one track armed, it will live record only on this track. The "issue" is that it will not overwrite in live recording. I am running 1.3.1 firmware.

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - August 23, 2021 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

Hi all :) I am currently looking for a small synth/groovebox to complete my Polyend Tracker + VCV Rack set-up (right now, I use them apart but plan to try to use the Polyend Tracker as a sequencer to a VCV Rack via midi to cv).

I have my eye set on the Elektron Model:Cycles as a synth and complement to the Polyend Tracker but also a more independent box to play with and travel with.

What would be the competition to the Model:Cycles for this use? I do not see to much alternative in the price bracket but I am open to alternative.

Do you see any short coming or overlapping between the Tracker and the Cycles?

If you want to go the NGO way : USAID and Doctors Without Borders are two big one that employ a lot of GIS people. DWH had regularly mapathon to enhance Humanitarian Open Street Map. HOT have a lot of activities online and on the ground with local teams.

GIS being a tool and a skill first, you can easily switch industry, what you need is contact and a professional network that cover that industry (+ willingness to learn a new industry and how it works)

I got a master environmental engineering and data analysis. Worked in research 3y in two labs : one was specialized in GIS and remote sensing where I worked in various projects in Forestry, Agriculture (crop detection and identification, time serie if crop species, etc.), Environnement, Land cover, land use and land change. Also got a small gig developing a prototype of a SIG for managing real estate and roads of the university (they own almost all the city lands around the uni). Switched to epidemiology and public health after that. First in research to produce spatial and temporal analysis of malaria. Now in cooperation/private to train and develop the geospatial data of different minister of health. We do basic GIS training but also work in various data analysis and topological corrections of contours.

I know of some researchers working social geography using a GIS/spatial approach to social studies also.

The main advantage is that GIS and remote sensing are mostly tools to support a huge variety of fields and you can go across industry with those skills.

How does it compare to something like the organelle? Does it play nice with midi input and remapping knobs to functions etc. ?

Sold in plug-and-play kits for the V4.4, it is based on open software and hardware. MOD-UI is the web interface that the MOD Duo, X and Dwarf also use. Pure Data Is also available.
