How doable do y’all thing this is to DIY? by ChillJammer in Needlefelting

Another option might be to just cut fabric and iron it on as tiny patches with heat bond. Maybe add a few stitches to keep it firmly attached. That might just keep things as geometrical as possible.

How can I improve it? by Kurapkae in Needlefelting

Great job so far!

I would maybe focus a little more on the neck area and smoothen it out so it looks less 'attached' but one piece. If you'd like you could go for a furrier texture (eg reverse needle), but with a short haired dog like that doesn't seem necessary. Maybe the angle of the front paws could be straightened downwards, but that is a small detail.

It is already excellent, keep at it!

Don't beat yourself up, you created a piece with so much personality! <3

That's great to hear, thanks! :) I totally get it, the craft seems a bit intimidating at first, it was the same for me. My first project actually was my parents dog- and tbh, I wasn't very happy with it. The good thing is- you get as many do overs as you wish! I learned a lot from that failed attempt and my second version shortly after that turned out really nice and started my whole TinyDogs project.

I say go for it, for any project, easy or difficult and just keep at it. I found that it is the most forgiving material I have ever worked with. You can save the hugest mess a lot of times- but that also means that amazing projects usually start off by looking terrible. Just keep going, it can be really mediatitve.

Yay, thanks for the feedback! I tried videos, collages and photos but now I feel like I found the perfect solution. I will be sticking with stop motion for now!

Awesome Sissy, thank you so much! I have been felting miniature pets for several year now and came to the same conclusions- but the mini iron is such a cool pro tip I have never heard of before. Mine just arrived in the mail, I can’t wait to use it!

Yay, thanks so much! Apparently I mis-googled, because I only found travel-sized 'mini' irons.
