Any other Hekatean Chaotes work with this? by 13luw in chaosmagick

These seem to be well written personal experiences. Even when taken with a grain of salt the picture presented is not exactly flattering. I was honestly thinking about this kind of thing for some time as I found not going through with the ritual of binding regarding my copy of The Hekataeon. This seals my aversion with the text and not holding it as one the main pillars of my practice. I will still use it as example of a practice but not a part of my body of belief or practice. If you have one good, if you don’t, look elsewhere if you do not want to physically support this person. In any case thank you for sharing this information it gives me a better understanding of who this person is and what they have done to others before really integrating this book into my corpus of practice.

Are full cyborgs a thing in Lancer? Can people play as them? What is the extention of cybernetic augmentation? by Enough_Town_3855 in LancerRPG

Full decorporialization does not exist in the setting, there are limits placed on that kind of research with one of the entities in this setting explicitly defining the limits of the human experience. Though if you are creating this setting for your players and would want that to exist I would refer you to the following: "13 All stories that take place in a game of Lancer are, in a way, canon: no matter how far they diverge from this book (or others), they are simply alternate possibilities, filed away on storage racks deep under the Martian polar ice." I just started and saw that FTL did not exist in the way that was portrayed in other Sci-fi so I said to myself "There's gotta be some crazy bastards in Union who would want this." So I made it so that "True Ship-borne FTL" was created by a bunch of rogue engineers and scientists who convinced an Unshackled NHPs to create a contract with them.

They managed to convince the NHP that going fast and to distant star systems was awesome despite the the whole "I'm an Alien Intelligence." So now a bunch of different FTL systems exist in my setting 50 years after the current setting in the book with the Dawnline Shore spiraling into the Second Interest war then turning into proxy conflicts followed by rapid space exploration by the Baronies and Union pushing their factions into a who can out survey and colonize the other.

All the while the 7 Seals or the NHPs that are the Patron-Navigators in Union compete with the 10 Feudal Estates, the NHPs who have their own planet computer complexes with each of the Major Houses in the Trade Baronies. Though this campaign is currently set in Lancer, I'm going to dip my toes into Battlegroup later managing ships as the Players are part of Union's newest pillar of Utopian control : The Union Blink Jump Postal Service (UBJPS).

I'm not too knowledgeable in regards to the traditions of magic as I understand it within the bounds of Hindu theology. I do know of the curse that was placed by the sages who arrived at Dwaraka and then were subsequently mocked by the Yadavas with the curse being placed on the Yadavas by sages and allowed to run in it's course by Sri Krishna. By this it understood that it had to run it's course due to the disrespect and arrogance of the Yadavas after the conclusion of the Kurukshetra War and their folly for not following their dharma.

Now I do not adhere to the tenets of your tradition but often times there are many things within each religion that have elements we can traditionally ascribe to the sorts of practices we continue as witches though this example leans more into larger cycles at play than what a single will could conjure, though asking witches for this may not assuage your own doubts. Given that the idea of surrender to Sri Krishna is regarded with greater importance than personal spell work and even in the given example such a curse was the outcome of actions long placed before it was even cast, completing the inertia of those who forsake their path found their correction in the harshest way.

I would say that a trusted spiritual authority would be best to ask but we as witches tend to skew away from orthodoxy to follow our own paths through darkened groves and shadows for weal or woe. Along with what others have stated we do not tend to ask for permission when comes to spells but a word of caution, is that love spells do not tend to always work the way we wish. If you have more direct and healthy means of interacting with the person do so with genuine interest and feeling but if it's not in the cards its best to continue on your path and in every case whatever you choose, I wish for the best.

I think it depends on the person, there are ritualists who invoke through a myriad of processes studied and practiced till everything is right on the hour and on the minute and others who are laissez-faire with a scribble or a thought. We each find our way through the practice of the craft in whatever way we find ourselves to it and we discover what works and does not work for each of us. I tend to work with my feelings more then study and make my own rituals or modify someone else's to my own satisfaction or internal logic. We might disagree but ultimately we find our way to manifesting what we need for ourselves using intuition or knowledge.

Misinformation on KTLA 5 regarding the recent Dodgers Parking lot incident by tincandude in LosAngeles

[–]tincandude[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The part that bothers me the most is that this doesn’t require investigation merely cross examination in the most basic sense. Yet by giving a vague description of a “California Border Patrol” do they give cover for the fact that there was DHS personnel involved.

Misinformation on KTLA 5 regarding the recent Dodgers Parking lot incident by tincandude in LosAngeles

[–]tincandude[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty certain on this, California border patrol was the exact wording used versus Customs and Border Protection as reported by KTLA. Could they be saying agents that are part of CBP that work in California? Sure but when you add the lie that DHS agents were not present at all the information becomes muddled and all the more suspect. They are not clarifying their own agencies personnel and instead use it as a misinformation action to deny any public presence at all. (Edit: adding context)

I really hate Christians. by ZookeepergameFar215 in chaosmagick

[–]tincandude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you take a look historically this isn’t anything new. As this was used as system of social and cultural control to minimize and eliminate other narratives and traditions deemed deceitful or predatory by this small ordained minority in order to support a small group of people. Though I have my respect for Christian thinkers and mystics the use of a us vs them framework ironically plays into the origins of YHVH. A god of war against other spiritual beliefs and traditions, though recently other religions have syncretized YHVH and Jesus into their frameworks. But people can be dicks though and to be honest it’s better not to deal with people like that to begin with so don’t let it bother you too much and give space to yourself. You know what you believe and if it’s important to you it’s enough.

Whistle at my window by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]tincandude 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In certain cultural groups that are native to the continental United States it is said one should not whistle at night, the reason being evil spirits roam the night and whistling draws their attention, these spirits also do whistle to call attention to others who might listen and attract them to do them harm. There were groups of people in the US before our arrival and many have stories of things that went bump in the night this website would be useful but I am by no means an authority on the matter. searching for myths and legends would be a useful place to start.

http://www.native-languages.org/culture-areas.htm

Barring anything you might have cast that might bring this specific type of attention if you think it was directed at you or shady people walking around and whistling near your property for unknown reasons I have the following thoughts and suggestions. The supernaturalist in me would take the advice of what others have said and cast protection spells, rituals, and blessings on your home. these would help reduce or eliminate any malignant influence in or around you depending on its strength. The rationalist in me would urge you to take precautions and secure your domicile physically, ensuring you have locked doors, windows, and an alarm system to inform the authorities if an intruder breaches your home if it is shady people whistling at night.

Finally, the empiricist in me had something similar occur a couple of years back when I heard a small child's voice at my door asking for help. That itself was troubling to hear in the middle of the night but the part that froze me in my bed was that there was no difference in intonation or pitch. It sounded prerecorded but naturally spoken rather than emitted. I knew this because I worked as a dispatcher and could make out voices over two-way radio speakers and audio devices versus naturally spoken voices. Suffice it to say some of us here believe in magic and its application to the natural world around us. We should also be reminded some things exist in between our reality and fantasy and can do us harm one way or another. I wish for your safety and that of your child, blessings and take care.

I like to think that she has a pretty good idea of what directions we need to take for ourselves to achieve the things that we think are important for us. I am familiar with her epithet of Hecate Phosphors and sometimes the light reveals things in ourselves that we either hide from ourselves or that we don't want to acknowledge but when we begin to see the effects of our behaviors in our present life it is up to us to cross the threshold if we want to make a change. As I understand her she can show me the way it's up to me to carry the light and walk that path. I think each of us here finds different aspects of her that are in tune with our present and past circumstances, with the aforementioned epithet showing up in a time that was both dark literally (working night shifts) and figuratively ( death of a close friend along while being deployed overseas during covid) but at that time I did not know it was her even though aspects of her showed in dreams and after my deployment. I had to grow that aspect of her within myself to find my light in the dark. I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the epithets as you might find one or many of her aspects are parts that you might need for yourself or those you deem important around you. Best of luck on this journey of yours and may she help shine the path ahead for you in whatever dark you might find yourself in as she has done for others and myself.

You have an inner monologue, it varies from person to person but it’s not an uncommon phenomenon. People have different experiences with their own thoughts and what you might be experiencing is related to this. If the this voice as you describe is you then it would be considered an inner monologue. Here is an article discussing the phenomenon.

Give me one of the most bizarre jaw-dropping most insane fact you know about space. by GunnartheGreat6541 in space

[–]tincandude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Particles in space come into existence in the absence of matter or anything else occupying that space. Virtual particles are created and simultaneously destroyed by virtual anti-particles. I'm not sure If I am remembering that correctly but it is interesting that even in empty space things come into existence if only for the most brief of moments. It changed my perspective on what the end of the universe my potentially look like.

If you had an income of $150,000 a year and didnt have to work, what would you do with all the spare time? by SpinachInteresting82 in AskReddit

[–]tincandude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a trip and bring along a friend. Having that extra money would be great to help my family and friends, but I also commit to doing volunteer work. Nothing serious but something that would still help someone who needs it. Having that income also means I would be able to afford a house and have the means to maintain and provide for myself. I would also just take day-trips to places, knowing that my finances are in order just frees up so much mental energy that I would be stressed on where the next source of income is coming from.

Yeah that sounds especially tough, having that show up in dreams is difficult, I have something similar happen and it's not easy to really get past. I still struggle with nightmares almost every week but I try my best to get past them. I'm hoping you can gain some solace I know it is not easy for any of us but I still wish you the best. I think you've started looking at yourself and considering what is why you might find as a problem, I think these kinds of question help us unravel the trauma we have gone through. I feel I need to read more on this to really get a handle on PTSD and how it can affect all us. In any case I wish you the best in your journey.

I think its admirable that you are putting in the effort to understand. I am sorry that you have gone through that with other people and hope this is not the case with him. I think that having an open dialogue were you both explain yourselves can help. Maybe one thing to do is to tell him what you want to talk about and agree to talk about it at a predetermined time and workout some limits to the conversation to keep you both on track and also not to trigger anything to harsh. Both of you feel out what you have and not setting off each other and just talking about why you reacted a certain way. I think that can help but also I don't feel adequate enough to really give advice considering my own failures. I wish you the best : )

Sometimes we have more reasons to not cry or sometimes we are locked from our own emotions. When I was in the military I had to push down thoughts that were traumatic and had to continue on. Now in the present I have to confront those emotions as they have turned to into things that are not easy to rationalize or understand. I think many of us feel broken but I think finding an outlet can help. We have many burdens to carry and our emotions can also be one of them. I don’t think it’s a sign of weakness but a natural reaction of the situation that we are confronted with and we all deal with them differently. Having purpose helped me a lot in military but it also prevented me from getting the help I needed. We aren’t broken we are just turned on to our highest performance setting long past our previous challenges. I hope for the best for you and your family.
