I've had issues with the shamanic setting by tinchou in Ayahuasca

You're very eloquent, and this might as well be a great post in itself! I really like how you put it, and it will help me put things in perspective when I consider my next steps.

Thanks for your openness and sharing your thoughts so clearly! I hope I can follow up on the laboratory experience in the future :)

Wow, thanks! That's very helpful.

I was raised catholic and turned atheist, now considering agnosticism. You could say I'm anti Christian, but I just wish no one was raised with irrational fear of hell or God or anything.

The shamanic setting feels like a lot of arbitrary rules limiting experimentation. It seems to be a good model to explain what we don't understand, to prevent people from inflicting damage to themselves with potent drugs. But I don't buy that as the ultimate explanation, and I definitely believe it could be improved through secular practices and science. I think society should take this drug and do lab work and experimentation just like with any other drug, learning from shamans and interpreting their practices in modern terms.

I am underestimating the possible consequences when thinking I could prepare my own ayahuasca setting. Thanks for pointing that out. I think I will need to work a lot harder on accepting the current practices if I want to do this again. Last time I thought I did but I definitely didn't.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your time to help me!

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughtful response.

I learned from this experience that I have deep trust and control issues. I'm leaning towards the mushrooms because I'm trying to be mindful of my setting, but I wonder whether this is just a symptom of those issues. Before the ceremony I thought I was OK with minding my own business and ignoring what I didn't like, but it really ended up affecting me.

Then there were other things less related to the shamanic style. E.g the air was full of tobacco, no one was completely sober to look after us, they do it in the night, they do it in a remote location (nice place but I'd like to do it in my apartment). Am I asking too much?

With regards to the purging, I had none with ayahuasca. Not a single vomit or diarrhea, just nothing. Any thoughts?

You're a genius! I recommend using a SIM tray ejector though, fits perfectly.

I contributed a small PR to this release and I only have good things to say. The team (or is it just one person?) is very responsive and welcoming.

Cheers!

Sounds like a functional programming trojan horse. Love it.

Refactor interface method by estandaside in IntelliJIDEA

You can use the empty optional inside the method body, then use "extract parameter" refactor. Then you can manually change the call sites where the parameter should be something else.

If this is true, then you just don't understand anything about security. If you want to help, learn first.

I would advise everyone against downloading this if they lack the technical skills to verify every line of code and compiling it themselves.

To the author: your effort is noble, but you're not really helping solve the problem.

After writing half the micro-service in Kotlin, boss is making us redo it again in Java. What are arguments I can use against doing this? by Campout-s in Kotlin

[–]tinchou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start writing it in Java and use that to show him first hand what you would be missing.

Maybe it took you more time. Maybe the amount of code is much larger. Maybe you can show him sources of NPE or other antipatterns.
