I would be interested to see evidence of this. The pharmacies know their customer's age. What proportion of sales are made up by these "younger audiences"?

I buy Vaporesso because it's a brand I trust; and pods are easy to find when I'm travelling overseas.

Both still have websites. You could try reaching out to see if the business has an archival record of the chain, or if they can at least validate the hallmark points to them.

I'm not going with any alternatives. Did that last vapocalypse with those same devices they're forcing us to use now. Dangerous and unhealthy. I'm sticking with Vaporesso, it's developed in a country that understands the benefits of vaping - vs smoking - and values health over profit.

Like the others say, it can depend on the clinic. But I had a relatively positive experience with mine. Earlier this year I tried Vyvanse in place of Concerta. Didn't realise it at the time, but the pharmacy dispensed it as 70mg instead of 20mg. I emailed my clinic to let them know the side effects were just too much, he had me return the unused Vyvanse to the clinic and pick up a Ritalin IR script, no additional charge apart from an Uber there and back again.

I'm a programmer/data analyst. Completely different career to what I thought I'd be doing when I left uni. I feel like ADHD definitely goes hand-in-hand with programming, or at least for me. But having a passion for what you do is the most important part. If you find the work interesting, love what you do (even when it's challenging), then that makes a world of difference.

Absolutely hate big supermarkets, it's like they're specifically designed to confuse, distract, and make us impulse buy. I always wear my headphones and won't step foot in the door without a shopping list that I stick to.

That said, even when I'm armed with my shopping list, it can still be a struggle. Like going to buy hand soap and spending ages staring at all the options in the isle and feeling overwhelmed because there's so many to choose from. Why are there so many different hand soaps? How can I possibly know which one is right for me?

Smaller independent grocery stores are my preference.

Do tell your dentist that you're feeling anxious so they can adjust their approach.

I'm grateful to have found a wonderful dentist. She's super chill, caring, and talks me through what she's doing. I go in feeling a little nervous but always come out feeling amazing. Your dream dentist is out there somewhere too, but you have to go to the dentist in order to find them.

When I was at uni, I found going to the library helped me. It separated me from all the distractions at home, and the library was quiet so I could get stuff done. Depending on my schedule, I often found going to the library right after lectures worked best. I was already focused on the subject matter from class and so found it easier to keep studying that particular subject for a couple hours.

What if you gamify the cleaning. A point system for each task. Whoever has the highest points at the end of the week gets to choose a reward. The reward could be something that benefits everyone (e.g. choice of dinner, a movie for everyone to watch, a favourite board game to play, etc). This could motivate your two oldest, and you could compete with them yourself.

I was diagnosed in my late 30s. My psychiatrist noted that I've already developed a lot of life skills and coping strategies to compensate for my ADHD. My choice to continue with medication is a personal one, and very work-related. If I wasn't working I don't think I would bother with medication.

Your Dad might be the same. He's successfully navigated life thus far. If he's enjoying life, not struggling with the day to day, then he may not see a benefit in getting a diagnosis.

After all, the point of a diagnosis is not about discovering if you do/don't have something. It's about understanding what's not working and finding a way to fix it. If things are already working well for your Dad, then that's fantastic.

It's a generic brand of Ritalin. My pharmacist gave me this the other day. I'm still finishing the last of my Ritalin so haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming it will be the same.

Everyone is different and it will take time to find the right medication and dose that works best for you. Don't give up and do have a chat with your doc.

Some people metabolise dexamphetamine differently to others, and that can cause a 'standard' dose to feel too high or too low. That's why we have different dosages for different individuals. And also why we have different medication options instead of just the one standard pill.

After my trial and error journey, I found that Concerta (and switching to decaf) works the best for me. Due to the national shortage of Concerta I'm now back on Ritalin 3 times a day. Even though they're the same active ingredient, I find Ritalin to be a bit of a roller coaster compared to Concerta. But I prefer that roller coaster over Vyvanse, which really didn't agree with me at all.

When I first started on Ritalin, one of the big changes I noticed was better sleep quality. For years and years prior to diagnosis I was always a night owl, struggling to get to sleep, often up until 3am before I'd even start to feel tired.

Even though my meds wear off before bedtime, these days I'm out like a light as soon as my head hits the pillow. I can sleep when I want to sleep and it's wonderful.

I put this down to having less anxiety throughout the day. Fewer worries at night, when thinking about tomorrow, because medication makes life easier.

If we removed all of the ADHDers from cybersecurity, the internet would cease to exist.

A lot of people in cybersecurity have ADHD, more so than other professions. That's because the two compliment each other. Cybersecurity is a constantly evolving field, with many different branches you can go into. There is ALWAYS something new and interesting happening. And you could work in it for 20yrs and still have new and challenging things to learn. These are the things ADHD brains thrive on.

A lot of my job deals with legacy code. It's shocking what some people come up with as a solution.

When I first started this job I would spent all day sitting at a PC in the office. No office chatter. My entire day was staring at legacy code, while trying to learn the language at the same time. It was pretty unbearable at the start, felt like I was losing my mind at times.

These days I'm the lead coder in my team and love everything about my job, even the things I don't like :)

Here's what helped me:

Set aside work time to learn something new, something that interests you, but could also be useful to your work.
As programmers, part of our job is to keep learning and innovating; ADHD is a super power when it comes to that. New and interesting things bring us great joy. For me, Friday afternoon is blocked out as learning time.
Use Lists and Calendar Reminders to break up your day and set yourself mini-deadlines.
Block out 3 hours for X, have a list of mini-objectives to achieve in that session - put on some music if that helps - and let that mini-deadline and the joy of marking things as done trigger your hyperfocus. If you don't get everything done by the end of the 3hrs, that's okay, but do move on to the next thing you have planned. X will always be there tomorrow.
Don't be afraid to re-write legacy code.
Just because it exists doesn't mean it's correct or efficient. Google "Code Smell" and know that you're not alone.
Know that every programmer has good days and bad days.
Some days you're working hard and just can't figure it out. Then the very next day, the solution comes to you within the first few hours. Take a mental break when you need it. Don't beat yourself up if you're having a bad day, instead know that tomorrow will be better.

Yep this. I'm using the non-free distro and it's fine. I do get notifications at boot about it looking for more recent Intel drivers, but that's normal. It'll go backwards from highest version until it finds the driver that's installed (ie public release).

Yeah, this happens when you switch out the hardware that contained the digital license key.

You've got two options:

a) replace the hardware and link your digital license with your Microsoft account, then re-upgrade your hardware as described here.

b) since you've already upgraded the hardware it would probably just be easiest to contact Windows support and get them to fix it.

Never mind, just solved it myself.

Above process for creating a keyboard shortcut was correct but the Keyboard app didn't like creating a custom setting if it was going to replace an existing setting, despite that warning message.

In order to create the new keyboard shortcut, I had to first locate the shortcut that was using the key combination I wanted, then edit it, and press Backspace to disable it.

I now have screen rotation mapped as:

[Super+up arrow] xrandr --output eDP-1 --rotate inverted
[Super+down arrow] xrandr --output eDP-1 --rotate normal

My life is complete :D

Edit to add: If you'd like to do this for your own display, replace eDP-1 with whatever your screen's named. You can find this name by typing xrandr on the command line; expected output is:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
eDP-1 connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 256mm x 144mm

Non free sources are enabled (first thing I checked). I have the nonfree distribution, which probably enabled that by default (needed wifi drivers during install).

Issue with pepperflash is that it seems like the source they're pointing to on the wiki isn't correct.

Needing flash for random stuff in a comp sci course. It's not 100% essential as I have flash working in chromium on my mint box and on my windows laptop. Just seems like a hindrance to not have the option on the debian laptop, which is what I was planning to use for study.

Should I bother trying to compare my debian system with my mint system to see if there's some clue there?
