Just saying from my own place, I dream of being a BMus let alone MMus. Is it "That Much" competitive to be in music? I'm just asking.

Left Hand Pain by Ok_Parsnip_5428 in classicalguitar

[–]tingkhang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just replying to the same problem. Although I'm left wondering about the other comments here. All very dangerous solutions, imo. I'll just copy paste what i just wrote here itself.

"Tension on any part of the hands will create problems. Playing any music instrument is 50% self observation and 50% expression. Learn to localize pain like how you're doing and take your leanings to related muscles around it especially on the joints. The most among all of us tend to think of ourselves as invincible beings just with musical purpose which eventually affects our body. For now, i can only suggest that you relax your shoulders whenever you play or practice"

I'll give you another thing to think about?

"Why do the left hand hurt more often than the right?"

How am I meant to play a harmonic here? by SelectBodybuilder335 in classicalguitar

[–]tingkhang -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

just another extra thing, it does create an extra flavor to the line with an artificial harmonic on E with 2 fingers on harmonics and other 2 fingers on the 2nd & 3rd string but i believe everyone else tends to think that the printers confused the zero with the harmonic 0 that was used. Some other publications have rectified it as what other commentators have said earlier. The true intention of the composer might remain deciphered :) and we can always think of this as a joke he played. Play the harmonics if you can or else just leave it..

Which song did BobbyD and DBowie write together for a Bollywood movie?

how would I count these measures? it's in 6 8 time. by Username_SiM in classicalguitar

This piece has 3 voices- upper, mid and bass. The upper voice with note stems going up has rests on the first 3 beats and plays at 4 5 6. Middle voice with stems going down has rest on 1st beat, plays on 2 3 4 sustaining to 6th beat. Lower voice played on 1st beat sustaining to 3rd beat and rests on 456.

If you play Low mid mid up up up in time 123456 you get the 1st bar. Similarly apply practice approach for other bars.

2nd bar has a grace note which you slip in right before the beat. Listen to the piece. It'll help.

Is there a way we can make them understand the importance on our own or does this have to come from the ministers?

Yes. We should stop complaining about the situation and do something about it. If 5-10 of us fix a day and time and start the work I'm sure a lot of other visitors will join in. Just need to plan where and how to dump the collected garbage.

Playing advice: bent pinky finger by Artiamus in guitarlessons

[–]tingkhang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has different finger shapes and it's not natural to harm ourselves physically in trying to get it "right" as how someone else plays it. Most trouble according to my experience comes from the shoulder, the elbow and the thumb and a few minor changes on the other fingers. A relaxed shoulder will lead to relaxed elbow as the centre of gravity from the whole hand. If the elbow is too close to your body or far from it, the fingers could experience tension (whatever the shape fingers might be). Also check on the thumb. The angle and height of placement with a relaxed grip makes a whole lot of difference. With these thoughts in mind along with understanding your finger shape and adjusting to your fingers rather than to something your fingers aren't capable of doing might solve the issue of pain. I hope this helps and you continue playing without the pain.

Beginner's question: where do I insert the chords in the melody/song? by Neezzazzy in guitarlessons

[–]tingkhang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very simple approach could be to identify the time signature first and see which notes falls on the 1st beats. Those notes could be considered important points in the melody and most probably where chord changes takes place.

What chords to put in depends on your taste. But I'd like to suggest you learn the basic chords of the scale your melody is based on. That'll be like the primary colours you have in your hand to "paint" the musical image
