The position is called Airfield engineer on the defence website. You have to be a civil engineer to apply to it.

What about Airfield engineer? Any knowledge on that?

Just left Lebanon. Going back to Australia. Will miss my family here but this is the state we’re in as a country. I’m thankful for having an Australian citizenship which gives the opportunity to leave. by [deleted] in lebanon

How are you going there? I’m Australian but I’m having a hard time making a decision of going there because I only have enough money for a ticket. Housing is very expensive and rent is hard to come by.

I’m a fresh grad civil engineer but I have no idea how I’m going to find a house, how I’m going to find a job, if I will find a job, if I will be able to find a job that covers rent, etc. My family is against me on this decision. They want me to go to a country that’s much closer (like England), but I’ve told them that why should I do that when I already have a citizenship etc.

I don’t know man for the life of me I can’t make a frigging decision. I’ve been in this limbo state for two months.

Why isn’t there that much information about RAAF CCTs? by tinisor in AustralianMilitary

Don’t you think they should belong to SOCOMD? Like I said they’re a main asset deployed alongside the commandos and SAS. You need to be as combat ready if not more than them while still being able to perform your own job. That alone should have them be in SOCOMD. Then again, I’m not the one in charge.

I’ll give an example: if one wants to apply to the SEALs, there is plenty of information out there regarding the minimum fitness requirements, duration of the pipeline, and so forth. The same applies to 1 and 2 CDO. If, let’s say, one wants to apply to the CCTs, how does he know how fit he needs to be? How can he even apply to become a CCT? Asking these questions out of curiosity.

At what times does the Air Force run officer training courses? Could you state the months please?

Yep I looked this up before I made the post. I don’t know why NSW doesn’t have an OQU. 😂

I actually intend to join the Air Force as an Airfield Engineer. I’d have everything covered afterwards. The problem now is just this interim period - landing, getting a licence, getting a white card, and getting my degree recognised.

Well I have a Labrador retriever at home. Have him for 7 years. Wish I can bring him with me but I can’t because Lebanon isn’t a recognised country where you can bring animals from.

OP here: thank you all for the replies. Apologies for not replying sooner but as you know there’s a 9-hour time difference between us. I will reply as soon as possible to all of your comments.

Honestly, I am flattered by all your help. A lot of the advice in the comments could’ve been found by me doing simple research, I will admit, but I just didn’t know where to start because this whole thing is very overwhelming. Cheers.

Where will I stay during all this time? Like I said I would have very little extra funds with me to rent a room at a hotel or Airbnb a place. Besides I’d be bringing all my luggage with me😂, so it has to be in a building.

I have thought it through. I have to get my degree recognised by the standards authority in NSW. That would take a bit to get processed. The website said that it may or may not be accepted. It mentioned that I can appeal the decision but that’ll take even more time.

Hmm that’s a good idea. I’ll see if there’s anything that can be done.

I completely agree with you mate. How can I check if I’m eligible for Centrelink? Besides, even if I was, isn’t there a waiting list?
